Genesis earned advertising awards

ZANESVILLE − Genesis HealthCare System recently won three 2022 Healthcare Advertising Awards. Entries were judged on creativity, quality, message effectiveness, consumer appeal, graphic design and overall impact.

Genesis received gold for wellness blogs and employee newsletter, and silver for its annual report part of the LiveWell Community Magazine.

Summer Crisis program starting

ZANESVILLE − The Ohio Department of Development and MEOAG Inc. are offering a home energy assistance summer crisis program for income eligible residents related to paying electric bills and central air conditioning repairs.

Approximately 458 families were helped by the program in 2022. The program runs from July 1 to Sept. 30. For more information, call 740-302-8404.

One will need to provide copies of their most recent energy bills, list of household members with proof of income, proof of citizenship, proof of disability if applicable and physician documentation of cooling assistance needed for a household member's health if there isn't someone age 60 or older in the home.

Water bill assistance available

ZANESVILLE − The Ohio Department of Development and MEOAG Community Action Commission of Muskingum County is offering a low income household water assistance program for income eligible residents needing assistance to pay for water and wastewater bills.

One must provide copies of their most recent water and wastewater bills, a list of all household members and proof of income, proof of residency, proof of disability if applicable and other possibly needed documentation.

Fire hydrants being flushed

ZANESVILLE − The City of Zanesville has announced fire hydrant flushing from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the area of Center, Rankin, Bell, Fairway Lane, Maple, Northpointe, Country Club Drive and all related side streets.

Residents may experience low water pressure and discoloration and should refrain from doing laundry until after 4 p.m.

Fireman's Festival upcoming

NEW CONCORD − The New Concord Fire Association will have its 64th annual Fireman's Festival starting at 11 a.m. July 8 with the parade down Main Street at 1 p.m.

A chicken and pulled pork dinner is at 4 p.m. for $10. Winners of the Ruritan poetry contest will be announced at 5:30 p.m. The raffle ticket drawing will be at 6 p.m. with tickets for $1 each. American Mojo will perform at 7 p.m.

Other events throughout the day at New Concord Elementary School Park will include touch-a-truck, food, vendors and fireworks at 10 p.m. Bounce houses for youth are $5 for the day.

The family entertainment event continues all day at the New Concord Elementary School Park on Main Street with free entry for Touch-A-Truck, live music, food, vendors, a raffle and more, until the grand finale fireworks beginning at 10:00 PM.
