Oil and gas property taxes report

COLUMBUS — Ohio’s oil and natural gas industry paid $57.6 million in real estate property taxes in eight eastern Ohio counties in 2021, according to the latest data from county auditors. The 2021 tax payments rank second highest over the past 12 years behind only 2020 ($62.2 million). Property taxes – or ad valorem taxes – are collected from oil and natural gas operations in several eastern and southeastern Ohio counties. Specific 2021 totals per county are as follows:

  • Belmont: $17,255,257

  • Carroll: $2,533,015

  • Columbiana: $602,967

  • Guernsey: $4,952,724

  • Harrison: $8,142,832

  • Jefferson: $11,186,966

  • Monroe: $10,625,684

  • Noble: $2,332,318

Concert in Brown Chapel

NEW CONCORD − The Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra presents the final concert of the season at 7 p.m. today in Brown Chapel on the campus of Muskingum University. The season finale concert will end with the orchestra performing movie, musical, and television selections. Tickets are available online at www.seoso.org, or at the door.

Byesville Road now open

CAMBRIDGE − The Guernsey County Highway Department announced the Ohio Department of Transportation has completed the culvert replacement project on Byesville Road (County Road 35), at I-70/I-77, ahead of schedule. It is now open.

Planning Commission schedules quarterly meeting

CAMBRIDGE − The next quarterly (joint with CIC) meeting of the Guernsey County Planning Commission will be at 8 a.m. Friday in the County Administration Building's first-floor conference room, 627 Wheeling Ave. Any business to be submitted for consideration by the commission must be in the CIC office by the close of business on Thursday.

Library board meeting Tuesday

CAMBRIDGE − The Board of Trustees of the Guernsey County District Public Library will meet in regular session at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Crossroads Branch Library.

Wills trustees meeting on Monday

The Wills Township trustees will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. Monday at the township garage, 17629 Easton Road, Salesville. To be added to the agenda call 740-584-5713.
