Two indicted for selling meth

COSHOCTON − Two Coshocton residents were recently indicted by a Coshocton County grand jury for drug dealing from an incident on March 1.

Nancy J. Tomak, 65, and Donald A. Rice, 61, were charged with one count each of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a first-degree felony, related to methamphetamine.

The indictment said the amount of drugs involved was more than five times the bulk amount, but less than 50 times the bulk amount. Additionally, the incident occurred within the vicinity of a school.

Statues being resold

COSHOCTON − Statues once part of a fountain at the Coshocton County Court Square are being resold via online auction through the Bricker Auction Company. The auction is open through 7 p.m. April 22 with a starting bid of $5,500.

Amy Jones, daughter of statue owners Mike and Jessie Garinger of Hartford City, Indiana, said the statues sold at an initial auction to a bidder from New York who has not replied to numerous attempts to contact after the bidding closed. The decision was made to put the statues back up for sale with a starting bid matching the previous winning bid.

The zinc and cast iron works were made by the J.W. Fiske Company of New York City and depict Hebe, the Greek Goddess of Youth, and two naiads. The main statue is 6 feet tall and the other two are 4 feet tall. The fountain went dormant in 1949.

Connectivity Fund taking applications

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Connectivity Fund, part of the Ohio Connectivity Family of Funds at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, is accepting grant applications from non-profit and public organizations for projects that use internet connectivity to improve quality of life in Coshocton County.

Ohio Transparent Telecom (OhioTT) created a Connectivity Fund through FAO in 2022 for Coshocton and Perry counties as part of its commitment to the rural Ohio communities it serves. At least $10,000 will be awarded to organizations in each county to address challenges and gaps community members face. Grant applications are being accepted through May 2.

Breakfast buffet planned

WEST LAFAYETTE − The West Lafayette Lions Club and Blue Ridge 4-H Club is having a breakfast buffet from 7:30 to 10 a.m. April 1 at the West Lafayette United Methodist Church, 120 W. Union St.

Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 2 to 10 and free for those under the age of 2. Menu includes pancakes, french toast, sausage, scrambled eggs, orange juice and coffee.

Prayer walk and worship set

COSHOCTON − A Good Friday Prayer Walk and Worship will be at 11 a.m. April 7 at the Coshocton County Courthouse Gazebo.

Participants will be walking and prayer over businesses, residences and offices along Main, Chestnut and Walnut streets from Second to Seventh streets. Following the walk will be worship and raising of a cross at the court square.
