Paul Construction gets health department project

COSHOCTON — Coshocton County Commissioners has awarded renovations to the former Hopewell Building for the Coshocton County Health Department and Coshocton County Coroner's Office to Paul Construction of Zanesville.

The company bid $1.82 million and was the lowest of three bids received. The engineer's estimate was $1.8 million. Work will include changing out some plumbing, creating new offices and storage areas, HVAC upgrades and handicap accessbility.

Commissioners cancel meetings

COSHOCTON — Coshocton County Commissioners will not meet in regular session on June 6 or 8.

Board of Revision meeting

COSHOCTON — The Coshocton County Board of Revision will meet via Zoom at 8:30 a.m. June 16 and can be viewed on the county's YouTube channel.

In-person meetings will be at 12:30 p.m. July 6 and Aug. 8 and 9 a.m. July 29 at the Coshocton County Treasurer's Office, 349 Main St. Those hearings can also be viewed on YouTube. Call 740-622-1243 for more information.

Willie Nelson Mandela performing

COSHOCTON — Willie Nelson Mandela will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at the artPARK, 325 Main St.

The Columbus based band features Tom Davis and Zach Mayo on guitars and vocals, Nate Shaw on keyboards and vocals and Andrew Frederick on bass. They play a wide mix of classic rock and pop ranging from the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin to Prince and Michael Jackson.

This the first of four street dances being hosted this summer by the Pomerene Center for the Arts and funded by the John D. O'Shea and Kathleen E. O'Shea Fund at the Coshocton Foundation. At 6 p.m., Tom Cohen will lead a free public dance class.

Erman makes dean's list

HIRAM — Benjamin Erman of Coshocton was named to the spring dean's list at Hiram College.

Millersburg students achieve at EMU

HARRISONBURG, VIRGINIA — Olivia Galbraith, Megan Miller and Laura Troyer, all of Millersburg, were named to the spring semester dean's list at Eastern Mennonite University.

Local students make MC honor lists

MARIETTA — Clay Davis of Coshocton has been named to the spring semester dean's list at Marietta College. He's majoring in special education/elementary.

Named to the dean's high honors list were Morgan Bryant and Shelby Byland of Coshocton and Kayla Gamble of Newcomerstown. Gamble is majoring in history, Bryant in biology and Byland in finance.

ONU announces graduates

ADA — Kaitlyn Lahna of Warsaw and Palmer Erb of West Lafayette recently graduated Ohio Northern University. Lahna received a doctor of pharmacy and Erb a bachelor's degree in science.

Ortega named to dean's list

ANNVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA — Isabel Ortega of Millersburg was named to the spring semester dean's list at Lebanon Valley College. She's pursuing degrees in English and political science.

AAA9 gets AmeriCorps grant

CAMBRIDGE — The Area Agency on Aging Region 9 recently received an AmeriCorps Senior Volunteer Grant Award for $267,971. It was one of only 46 such grants given nationwide and the only one to an area agency on aging.

Funding will be used to connect older adults in the agency's nine-county region with volunteer opportunities to show up and step up for their community by serving with the AmeriCorps Senior Program. The organization covers Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum and Tuscarawas counties.
