I-70 work by ODOT continues

ZANESVILLE − The Ohio Department of Transportation is continuing the Interstate 70 reconstruction project through Zanesville.

The eastbound driving lane will be closed Monday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for pothole patching from Underwood to Seventh streets. The Fifth Street off-ramp will be closed during the work. The passing lane will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday for work on the Fifth Street Bridge.

Locals achieve in college

ZANESVILLE − Madeline Heigley of Crooksville and Malachi Morrison of McConnelsville were named to the fall semester dean's honor list at Cedarville University.

Jacob Nunamaker of Norwich, Reese Osborn of Nashport and Aidan Schaffer of Frazeysburg were named to the fall semester dean's list at the University of Mount Union.

Leilah Castro of New Lexington was named to the fall semester dean's list at Campbellsville University.

Cora Belle Wilkins of Zanesville was named to the fall semester dean's list at Pennsylvania Western University.

Sadie Devore of Dresden, Trinity VanDusen of Zanesville, Jenna Snider of Somerset and Tabitha McCutcheon of Junction City was named to the fall semester dean's list at Wilmington College.

ZMHA to meet

ZANESVILLE − The Zanesville Metropolitan Housing Authority will meet in regular session at 5:15 p.m. Jan. 26 at the board office, 407 Pershing Road.

MVBA earns designation

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum Valley Business Advisory Council recently earned a three star designation for excellence for the second year in a row from the Ohio Department of Education and the Lt. Governor's Office.

The MVBAC was one of 19 statewide business councils to earn a three or four star designation. There are more than 120 such councils in Ohio. The MVBAC is under the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center.

“The Business Advisory Council is a cornerstone of our workforce development initiatives," said MVESC Superintendent Lori Snyder-Lowe. “Connecting business leaders and educators is critical to ensure students are ready to enter the world of work after graduating from high school."

Balderson to serve on House Energy and Commerce Committee

WASHINGTON DC − Congressman Troy Balderson was selected by the House Republican Steering Committee to serve on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

“This new role affords me a unique opportunity to champion many of the policy priorities important to the families and communities I represent, such as restoring American energy dominance, advancing health care innovations benefiting rural communities and children, and positioning the U.S. as the world’s economic leader and creating jobs here at home,” Balderson said.

He is the former chairman of the Energy & Public Utilities Committee in the Ohio Senate.

Ohio's 12 Congressional District covers Licking, Fairfield, Knox, Muskingum, Coshocton, Guernsey, Morgan, Perry and Athens counties, as well as portions of Delaware, Holmes and Tuscarawas counties.

Ways and Means Committee to meet

ZANESVILLE − The Way and Means Committee of Zanesville City Council will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the first floor conference room of city hall. Discussed will be an ordinance regarding a contract to purchase new computerized records management and computer aided dispatch system for the police and fire departments.
