Spaghetti diner to benefit Patterson family

The Byesville Volunteer Fire Department is holding a spaghetti dinner benefit for Amanda Patterson and her family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 10 at the fire department, 212 Seneca Ave. The cost is $10 and includes spaghetti, garlic bread, and a drink. This meal will be for take-out or guests will have the option to eat at the station. Those interested in making a donation can contact EMS Chief Jeremy Rice at 740-630-8682.

CPD looking to hire dispatcher

The Cambridge Police Department is looking to hire a dispatcher. Complete job description and qualifications can be found at the City of Cambridge website, www.cambridgeoh.org, under the employment opportunity tab. Applications can be picked up at the Mayor's office, 814 Wheeling Ave., between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The office is closed between noon and 1 p.m. Application deadline is noon Feb. 7.

Tourism grant applications are available

The Belmont County Tourism Council Board of Directors announces the annual Grant Assistance Program (GAP Grant) is now accepting applications for 2023. These grants help fill in the gap by financially assisting non-profit organizations with events, projects, improvements or maintenance to a tourist attraction or historical site that enhances travel and tourism in Belmont County.

Any non-profit may apply for the grant, and to qualify the event or attraction must generate tourism into Belmont County. Applications have been mailed to previous applicants but are also available online at www.visitbelmontcounty.com or can be picked up in the tourism office located at the Ohio Valley Mall.

Applications will be accepted until March 3. The board will review all the applications, and grants will then be awarded to the qualifying recipients by March 31.

Students recognized for academics

Kaitlyn Ragsdale of Cambridge, Alison Touville of Lore City, and Andrew Lilje of New Concord were named to the fall president's list at SNHU.

Payton Dennis of Cambridge was named to the fall dean's list at Hiram College.

Township trustees meeting on Monday

The Wills Township Trustees will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. on Monday at the township garage, 17629 Easton Road, Salesville. Call 740-584-5713 to be added to the agenda.

Library board set to meet

The Board of Trustees of the Guernsey County District Public Library will hold its organizational meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the Crossroads Branch Library. The regular session will immediately follow.

Balderson meets with local officials

Ohio 12th District Congressman Troy Balderson met with Guernsey County and Cambridge City officials last week to discuss area needs.

Some of the discussions centered around projects in the area for expanding EMS services and funding, water and sewer projects, infrastructure funding, internet availability and money available to help with the expansion of the Guernsey County Jail and seeking additional employees.

Following congressional redistricting, Balderson replaced Bill Johnson as the area congressman which represents Guernsey, Muskingum Coshocton, Morgan, Perry, a portion of Tuscarawas and several other central Ohio counties. The change took effect on Jan. 1.
