West Lafayette selling firetruck

WEST LAFAYETTE − The Village of West Lafayette is looking to sell a mini-pumper tanker firetruck from the West Lafayette Volunteer Fire Department. A new firetruck was recently received, making the old one unneeded. It holds 250 gallons of water and is being sold as is without a warranty. Value of the firetruck is estimated at $5,000.

Two bids for the F-350 chassis pumper were previously received, but were rejected for not meeting bid specifications. One was from the Village of Newcomerstown and the other from a village resident and business owner. Village council is expected to take a new round of bids at its regular meeting on Monday.

RPC committee meeting canceled

COSHOCTON − The Executive Committee meeting of the Coshocton County Regional Planning Commission for Monday has been canceled. The next meeting will be at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in the conference room of the Coshocton County Commissioners Office.

Newcomerstown man strikes deer on Ohio 93

WEST LAFAYETTE − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a traffic crash shortly after 5 a.m. Friday in the 24000 block of Ohio 93 in White Eyes Township.

Authorities said Trevor Moore, 24, of Newcomerstown, struck a deer while traveling north. He was not injured. Assisting on scene was Prince's Wrecker Service. Other first responders were called off in route.

Beer, Bourbon and Bites at JH Museum

COSHOCTON − Beer, Bourbon and Bites will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum, 300 N. Whitewoman St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The event features six pairings of bourbons, craft beers or wines with culinary treats. One will need to pick which pairing they wish to do with their reservations.

Tickets are $70 for the general public and $60 for Friends of the Museums. Reservations will be taken from Dec. 20 to Jan. 20. All attending will receive three months membership to the Friends of the Museum. Make reservations by call 740-622-8710 or go to jhmuseum.org/bbb.

New Year's Eve event for youth planned

COSHOCTON − A New Year's Eve Gala for youth of Coshocton County will be from 7 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. New Year's Eve at Coshocton Village Inn and Suites, 115 N. Water St.

The event will feature food, games, music, dancing, prizes and crafts. Children age 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult, children 6 and older can be dropped off with a parent signing a waiver. Kids can dress semi-formal or casual.

Reserve by Dec. 23 by contacting Tosha Crowthers at 740-575-2851. Donations and volunteers for the event are also being sought.

Leaf pickup ending

COSHOCTON − The City of Coshocton has announced that crews are doing a final pass in each zone for leaf pickup for the year. All leaves should be at the street and vehicles moved out of the way. Any leaves after Dec. 16 will need to be bagged.

Raffle winners named

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton Rotary Club has announced winners of its 12 Days of Christmas Raffle for Thursday and Friday.

Thursday winners get an Hendley and Co. apple cider pork loin from Collins Meat and Food Market. Winners were Charlene Bussey, Tammi Rogers, Kristy Landis, Ruth Eikenberry, Dean Brown, Bob Clark, LaVone Robinson, Linda St. Clair and Diane Weller. The bonus $100 went to Toby Conger.

Friday winners get $25 gift certificates to Auer Ace Hardware. Winners were Patrice Croft, Deb Gingerich, Angel Blair, Jody Laughlin, Missy Mills, Sheryl Slaughter, Amy McCoy and Diane Weller. The bonus $100 went to Joel Jumper.

Museum accredited

COSHOCTON − The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum recently received re-accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums.

Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies and to the museum-going public. JHM was initially accredited in 1973. All museums must undergo a reaccreditation review at least every 10 years to maintain accredited status. Only 1,96 museum are accredited among the nation's more than 33,000. There are only 41 in Ohio.

CAC offering utilities assistance

COSHOCTON − Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland Community Action Commission in conjunction with state agencies is helping income eligible Ohioans with paying utility bills. Water and wastewater bills is through the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program and energy bills through the Home Energy Assistance Winter Crisis Program

Those applying for water bill help must provide copies of their most recent water and wastewater bills, proof of income and citizenship for all household members, proof of disability if applicable and other documentation as needed.

Applicants for HEAP must provide their most recent energy bill, statement of disconnection or threat of disconnection, proof of income and citizenship for all household members, photo identification, proof of disability if applicable, social security numbers and physician documentation of the need of cooling if a household member is not 60 or older.
