Noble County man in custody after attack on officer

Noble County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic incident at 217 Bridge St. on Saturday. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the caller who advised that Justin Hallowell had attacked his mother and one of their neighbors before retreating into his apartment nearby, according to the Noble County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to Hallowell’s apartment to further investigate the matter.

After initial attempts to make contact went unanswered, Hallowell subsequently opened his door, sprinted towards the deputy, and proceeded to attack, unprovoked. Following a brief altercation, Hallowell was subdued and taken into custody. Deputies called for United Ambulance to medically clear Hallowell before he was ultimately transported to the Noble County Jail. Upon completion of the investigation, Hallowell was charged with assault on a peace officer, assault, and domestic violence. He remains in jail on a bond of $50,000.

Students recognized at Miami University

Natalie Mitchell of New Concord and Mya Stahl of Pleasant City were named to the fall semester dean's list at Miami University.

Named to the presidents list are Anna Wright of Cambridge and Alexis Bebout of Pleasant City.

Trustees to discuss fire levy renewal

The Cambridge Township Trustees will hold a special meeting at 7 a.m. March 31 to review and consider approval of fire levy renewal paperwork. The regular meeting normally scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8 will be held at 7 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3.

OSU Extension program to improve beef cattle genetics

Select Sires and OSU Extension will be hosting an educational program designed to help beef cattle producers learn the value of improved genetics and how to get started utilizing this technology. The program will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 16 at the Bear’s Den Steakhouse, 13320 E. Pike. Seating is limited and you must register to attend. Call the OSU Extension office at 740-489-5300 to register.

Children Services board meeting scheduled

Guernsey County Children Services Board meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Children Services complex, 274 Highland Ave. Cambridge.

Trustees meeting moved to Senecaville VFD

The location of the Richland Township Trustees' regular meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been changed to the Senecaville Volunteer Fire Department.

CIC and Planning Commission meeting Friday

There will be a joint meeting of the Cambridge-Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) and the Guernsey County Planning Commission at 8 a.m. Friday in the first-floor conference room of the County Administration Building, 627 Wheeling Ave., Cambridge.
