Military Road closing for sewer work

ZANESVILLE − The City of Zanesville has announced Military Road will be closed for sewer maintenance from Feb. 20 to 22 from Maple Avenue to Fairway Lane. Traffic detours will be posted.

Perry Co. Chamber luncheon is Tuesday

THORNVILLE − The Perry County Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon will be at noon Feb. 21 at Champ's Pizza, 14630 Township Road 1061, Thornville. Cost is $20. The guest speaker will be Terry Rugg on estate planning.

Garden symposium planned

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum Valley Garden Society will hold a spring garden symposium at 8:45 a.m. March 18 at the campus center of Ohio University Zanesville. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m.

The theme is 20 Years of Shenanigans in the Garden. There will be a silent auction, vendor booths, 50/50 drawing, yard crashers and membership table. Speakers include Mark Mechling on invasive plants, Michael Durst on backyard wildlife, Melissa Debore on pollinators and the urban greens garden program, Russ Edgington with a park district update, Karen Lyons on membership opportunities, Michelle Illing on the conservation club for young people and Laura Alexander on backyard landscaping.

Pre-registration is $40 through March 12 and then $45 after. The event includes lunch. For registration and more information, go to mvgardensociety.org.

Red Cross blood drives scheduled

ZANESVILLE − The American Red Cross has several blood drives upcoming in the local area.

Drives will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Feb. 20 and 27 at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 22 at Secrest Auditorium, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 28 at Maysville High School and 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Commons.

A drive in Morgan County will be from noon to 6 p.m. Feb. 21 at Malta United Methodist Church in the youth building.

Drives in Perry County will be from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at Glenford Elementary School, 1 to 7 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Somerset American Legion, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 17 at the New Lexington City Building and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 22 at New Lexington High School.

Wilson makes dean's list

ROANOKE, VIRGINIA − Rhyann Wilson of Zanesville was named to the fall semester dean's list at Hollins University.
