Truck strikes bicyclist

COSHOCTON — The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a pickup truck striking a bicyclist at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday on Ohio 621, near County Road 186 in Keene Township.

Authorities said Ricky Derringer, 63, of Coshocton was traveling north in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado when he struck Betty Troyer, 46, of Fresno, on a bicycle. Derringer fled the scene, but was located and apprehended by deputies shortly after.

Troyer was transported to Genesis Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Assisting were West Lafayette Fire Department, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services and Prince's Wrecker Service.

Minor injuries in Wednesday wreck

COSHOCTON — The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported on a single-vehicle crash at 11:21 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of South Seventh St.

Authorities said Max Thornsley, 77, of Coshocton was driving a 2012 Nissan Titan south when he drifted to the right and struck a parked 1996 Honda Accord. Thornsley was transported to Coshocton Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Assisting were Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services, Coshocton Fire Department, REACT and Prince's Wrecker Service.

Parks earns Jones Metal Scholarship

COSHOCTON — Taylar Parks of West Lafayette was recently announced by the Coshocton Foundation as winner of the $2,000 Jones Metal Products Adult Legacy Scholarship.

The 2017 graduate of Newcomerstown High School and the Buckeye Career Center is majoring in sonography at Central Ohio Technical College. The scholarship is for Coshocton County residents attending COTC.

Goat show this weekend

COSHOCTON — The Myotonic and Boer Goat Show will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds. A minimum of 150 entries are expected and will be accepted up to the show day. Entries are being processed through the Showman App.

Sunflower Festival upcoming

COSHOCTON — The annual Coshocton Sunflower Festival is upcoming at the KOA Campground on County Road 10.

There are more than 40 varieties of sunflowers over four acres and stations to take photos. One can cut a sunflower to take home. The event will also feature live music, food and vendors.

Sippin' on Sunshine wine and beer tasting will be Aug. 6, Early Bloomers Day is Aug. 7, early weekdays is Aug. 8 to 9, the main festival will be Aug. 12 to 14, late weekdays are Aug. 18 to 19 and the final weekend is Aug. 20 to 21.

Bakersville Homecoming set

BAKERSVILLE − The annual Bakersville Homecoming will be Aug. 12 to 14 at Bakersville Community Park on Ohio 751.

The antique tractor pull with 59 classes is at 2 p.m. Friday with a chicken barbecue at 4 p.m. The stone boat pull with three classes is at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. A tractor pull with two classes will be at noon Sunday.

Macramé workshop in Roscoe Village

COSHOCTON − A macramé workshop with Macrame by McKenna of Rust Décor will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 19 in the visitors center of Roscoe Village.

Attendees will make a wall hanging with Sarah McKenna. Water and snacks will be provided, but participants may bring their own snacks and beverages.
