Volunteers needed for Dickens move

The Dickens Victorian scenes are scheduled to be moved back to the warehouse for refurbishing during the off-season. Trailers are needed to haul the scenes along with people to help lift them. Volunteers are asked to meet at 9 a.m. Sunday near Rite Aid to begin the moving process.

African American Community Fund awards grant for mentoring program

The African American Community Fund (AACF) has awarded local grants to advance projects and programs serving African American individuals throughout Appalachian Ohio’s 32 counties.

Earlier this year, AACF, in partnership with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio and FAO’s I’m a Child of Appalachia Fund and with support from the AEP Foundation, invited Black-led and Black-serving nonprofit and public organizations to apply for grants benefiting African American communities in the region.

Awarded locally was Books with Badges, for start-up funding to create a leadership academy and afterschool mentoring program, serving young people in Belmont, Guernsey, Jefferson, Monroe and Muskingum counties.

East Guernsey board meeting set

The organizational board meeting for the East Guernsey Local School District Board of Education has been scheduled for 8 a.m. Jan. 9 in the Administrative Office Conference Room, 65591 Wintergreen Road, Lore City.

Mid-East board meeting in Zanesville

The Mid-East Career and Technology Centers Board of Education will hold its organizational/regular board meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the Administrative Center on the Zanesville Campus, 400 Richards Road, Zanesville.

Bob Jones University President's and Dean's List

Karah Bilyeu, a junior educational studies major from Cambridge, was named to the fall 2022 President's List at Bob Jones University. Kellie Bilyeu, a sophomore business administration major from Cambridge, was named to the fall 2022 Dean's List.

Distinguished Pubilc Service Award nominations open

Nominations are being accepted for the Distinguished Public Service Award, which will be announced at the Cambridge Area Chamber’s Annual Dinner on Feb. 16. Recipients of this award demonstrate outstanding personal contribution by way of active service, leadership, and ideas to chamber area civic or service organizations, and/or causes. The selected candidate’s contribution will be for the past calendar year.

Nomination forms, which include an outline of the criteria used for consideration, are available at the Cambridge Area Chamber office, 433 Wheeling Avenue, Cambridge, or online at www.cambridgeohiochamber.com. Completed nomination forms must be received at the Chamber office by Jan. 27.
