Valley Road closed for bridge replacement

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum County Engineer's Office closed Valley Road on Monday from Mollies Rock Road to Sheck Road for a bridge replacement. The road will be closed for approximately three weeks.

Blood drives planned

ZANESVILLE − The American Red Cross has scheduled several blood drives for the local area.

Drives will be from noon to 6 p.m. April 5 at East Muskingum Middle School in New Concord, 1 to 6 p.m. April 7 at the Roseville American Legion Post 71, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 12 in the gym of Muskingum University in New Concord, 1 to 6 p.m. April 12 at the Harrison Township Fire Department in Philo, 1 to 7 p.m. at Trinity United Presbyterian Church and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 20 at Secrest Auditorium.

Drives in Perry County will be from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 8 at the Thornville Masonic Lodge, 1 to 7 p.m. April 13 at the Somerset American Legion Hall and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 14 at Perry Behavioral Health Choices in New Lexington.

Drives for Morgan County will be from 1 to 7 p.m. April 19 at Stockport United Methodist Church and noon to 6 p.m. April 21 at Malta United Methodist Church in the youth building.

Board of DD to meet

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities will meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. April 13 at the board office, 1304 Newark Road.

Kassis joins Genesis

ZANESVILLE − Dr. Edmund Kassis has joined Genesis Heart and Vascular Group specializing in thoracic surgery.

He has his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and a fellowship in surgical oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland.

Kassis is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He treats many conditions including esophageal cancer, gastric cancers, lung cancer, mesothelioma and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

MHRS board to meet

ZANESVILLE − The Mental Health and Recover Services Board will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. April 13 at the board office, 1500 Coal Run Road. The finance and audit committee and partners workgroup will meet prior at 6 p.m.

Dresden farm joins angus association

DRESDEN − The Triple HHH Family Farm in Dresden has joined the American Angus Association, headquartered in Saint Joseph, Missouri. The association has more than 22,000 active adult and junior members and is the largest beef breed association in the world.

Conservation district meeting set

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District will meet in regular session at 4 p.m. April 11 at the Rural Services Building, 225 Underwood St.
