Safety Day is Saturday at Lowe's

ZANESVILLE − Muskingum County Safety Day will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Lowe's, 3755 Frazeysburg Road.

It will include area first responders and public safety vehicles on display. The Ohio State Highway Patrol will also be recruiting new officers.

New Dollar General opens

ZANESVILLE − A new Dollar General store recently opened at 1158 Newark Road.

The outlet offers a variety of food, cleaning supplies, paper products, over-the-counter medicine, hygiene products, and more, along with the company's new home décor line and an expanded party preparation section. It will employ six to 10 people.

To celebrate the store opening, 100 new books will be donated to a nearby elementary school to benefit students in kindergarten to fifth grade.

Brinker joins angus association

FRAZEYSBURG − Aiden Brinker of Frazeysburg was recently named a junior member of the American Angus Association, located in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

City trash running for holiday

ZANESVILLE − The City of Zanesville division of sanitation will be running a regular schedule of collecting refuse and recycling on Monday. There will be no delay for Columbus Day.

Board of DD to meet

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities will meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the board office, 1304 Newark Road. The ethics committee will meet prior at 5:15 p.m.

MHRS board slated to meet

ZANESVILLE − The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board will met in regular session at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at the board office, 1500 Coal Run Road. Michael Gillette will give a presentation on development of a funding application process prior at 6 p.m. The finance and auditor committee will meet at 5 p.m. Oct. 11.
