ODOT work impacting traffic

JACKSONTOWN − The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced roadwork for the coming week.

Pavement repairs start Monday on Ohio 668 in Perry County from the Hocking County line to Ohio 37 in Junction City to prepare for resurfacing. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers.

Interstate 70 will have an inside lane closure from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday for a a deck pour of the Muskingum River Bridge. I-70 will be restricted to one lane in both directions from 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday for the Maple Avenue flyover deck pour. The State Street eastbound on-ramp will be closed during that period.

Ohio 340 is expected to reopen Monday from a rock slope cut back project. Ohio 146 will close for approximately 30 days for continued work from Zion Ridge Road to Ohio 340. The suggested detour is Ohio 146 to Ohio 284 to Ohio 340 to Ohio 146 and reverse for the opposite direction.

Norfield Road closing for culvert replacements

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum County Engineer's Office has announced that Norfield Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday from Bethel Road to Lodge Road for culvert replacements.

Cooperrider: .22-Caliber Killers presentation

THORNVILLE − Judge Luann Cooperrider will have a special presentation on the .22-Caliber Killers case at 6 p.m. April 23, at Grace Lutheran Church, 65 E. Columbus St., Thornville.

The case centers on Gary and Thaddeus Lewis, who terrorized Central Ohio in 1977 and 1978, robbing and shooting 10 people across three counties. Cost is a donation with proceeds benefitting the Thornville Activity Committee.

Coal Cave Hollow Boys playing

SHAWNEE − The Coal Cave Hollow Boys will perform at 8 p.m. April 29 at the Tecumseh Theater, 116 W. Main St., Shawnee. Tickets are $10.

Murder mystery upcoming

NEW LEXINGTON − "A TEAtering Family" mystery dinner experience will be at 6 p.m. April 29 and 2 p.m. April 30 at the Perry County Calvary Arts Center, 447 S. Main St.,, New Lexington.

Tickets are presale only and are available at Thompson Insurance, Ogden Insurance and Crooksville High School. Cost is $30 and includes a meal.

Vandenbark presents at conference

MARIETTA − Makenzie Vandenbark of Zanesville was one several students and faculty from Marietta College who made presentations at the Southeastern Psychological Association annual research conference.

The junior psychology major collaborated with another student and a professor on the project "Stimulus Factors Affecting Multidimensional Unsupervised Learning and Eye-Tracking Behavior."

ZMHA to hold annual meeting

ZANESVILLE − The Zanesville Metropolitan Housing Authority board will have its annual meeting at 5:15 p.m. April 27 at the board office, 407 Pershing Road.

Waterlines installed on Maple Avenue

ZANESVILLE − The City of Zanesville will be installing a new waterline near the intersection of Maple Avenue and Dresden Road April 17 to 28.

At various times, northbound traffic of Maple Avenue will be restricted to one lane from McConnell Avenue to Dresden Road. McConnell Avenue will also be closed from Maple to Stanton avenues.

Lane closures and traffic patterns will be marked with message boards, signs and barrels. Motorists should expect delays and plant alternate routes if possible.

Student art exhibition at ZMA

ZANESVILLE − An art exhibition featuring work from Muskingum County students in kindergarten to 12th grade is opening at the Zanesville Art Museum, 620 Military Road. An opening ceremony will be from noon to 2 p.m. April 23.

It's the first time the exhibit has been held since 2019. Artwork is from students in public and private schools, home school and local art education organizations.

Awards will be given in elementary, intermediate, middle school and high school categories and the Avant-Garde Award. Guest juror is Dawn Blattel, the OAEA Outstanding Art Teacher for 2022.

Auditions open for 'Cabaret'

ZANESVILLE − Zanesville Community Theater is holding auditions for "Cabaret" at 7:30 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the theater, 940 Findlay Ave.

The director and choreographer is Jillian B. Von Gunten with Steven Hendershott as assistant director and Sheryl Wise as musical director. Performances will be at 8 p.m July 21, 21, 28 and 29 and 2:30 p.m. July 23 and 30.

There are parts for eight men and eight women. Those auditioning must be age 18 or 17 with parental permission.

Salvation Army Auxiliary having brunch

ZANESVILLE −The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary will have its annual brunch on May 11 at the Salvation Army Annex, 515 Putnam Ave. A silent auction and bake sale preview is at 10 a.m. with the brunch at 11 a.m.

The theme is Sewing Up Strong Friendships. Women from the Turban Project will present a program on sewing turbans for cancer patients on the local, national and international levels. Attendees are asked to bring costume jewelry used to decorate the turbans.

Tickets are to be reserved by May 5. Seating is open, but tables of eight can be reserved. Proceeds go to the Coats for Kids project. For more information and tickets, call 740-683-3456.

Way and Means Committee to meet

ZANESVILLE − The Ways and Means Committee of Zanesville City Council will meet at 5 p.m. Monday in council chambers of city hall.

Discussion will be had on Community Ambulance and there will be a virtual presentation from Enterprise Fleet Management. An ordinance will be reviewed regarding funding to Transitions Inc. for support of operational expenses to provide shelter and programming for victims and families of domestic violence in the community.

Rich Hill Trustees to meet

CHANDLERSVILLE − Rich Hill Township Trustees will meet at 8 p.m. April 24 in the township hall, 3640 Herron Road, Chandlersville.
