Local News Briefs: A1A performing Thursday, three arrested in Morgan Co., meetings

A1A performing for concert series

ZANESVILLE − The next installment of the free Secrest Summer Concert Series will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of Secrest Auditorium, 334 Shinnick St.

Headliner is A1A - The Official Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band. There will be food trucks and a beer garden. Bring a chair. No outside alcohol is permitted. The event will be moved inside for inclement weather.

Three arrested with drugs in Morgan County

McCONNELSVILLE − The Morgan County Sheriff's Office recently arrested three men wanted on warrants within the county. Each was found with suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

One man was apprehended from a traffic stop in Penn Township, one from a traffic stop in Morgan Township and the other from a trespassing call in Malta. Names are pending the filing of formal charges, with the cases being reviewed by the Morgan County Prosecutor's Office.

Two of the men were wanted on warrants related to child support payments and one for failure to appear in court.

Concert series starts July 15

NEW CONCORD − The Cardinal Chorale of Coshocton is holding its eighth annual music workshop from July 15 to 22 at Muskingum University. It's for high school and collegiate singers.

Concerts open to the public will be held at the Sandra Wolfe Thompson Theatre in Philip and Betsey Caldwell Hall. "Let There Be Peace" will be at 7 p.m. July 16, "Songs in the Key of Alto" is at 7:30 p.m. July 17, "You'll Never Walk Alone" will be at 7:30 p.m. July 20 and "Walk Together" is at 2 p.m. July 22.

The headliner will be Reggie Harris presenting "Songs of Hope and Freedom" at 7:30 p.m. July 18.

Road work planned this week

ZANESVILLE − The City of Zanesville has announced that Pine Street will have traffic restrictions for pavement restoration from the recent intersection signal upgrade project at West Main Street, Pershing Road and Eppley Avenue.

The work will start Monday and last three days, pending on weather. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and should expect delays.

School boards schedule meetings

∎ Maysville Local Schools Board of Education will meet in regular session at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the administrative center, 3715 Panther Drive.

∎ East Muskingum Local Schools Board of Education will meet in regular session at 4 p.m. Thursday in the library of John Glenn High School, 13120 John Glenn School Road, New Concord.

∎ West Muskingum Local Schools Board of Education will meet in regular session at 5 p.m. Thursday in the library of West Muskingum Middle School, 100 Kimes Road.

∎ The Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center governing board will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. July 17 at the main office, 205 N. Seventh St.

Park board to meet

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum Valley Park District Board of Commissioners will meet in regular session at noon Monday in the visitor center at Mission Oaks Gardens, 1720 Euclid Ave.
