Bon Jovi tribute band performing

ZANESVILLE − The Bon Jovi tribute band Wanted! will play at 7 p.m. Sunday at The Barn, 1947, Linden Ave. Fluz Acoustic will open at 4 p.m. Tickets are $25 at the door with seating first come, first serve.

Coopermill Road closing Monday

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum County Engineer's Office has announced Coopermill Road will be closed for 14 days starting Monday from Pinkerton Road to Wortman Road for replacement of a large diameter culvert.

Community Development Committee to meet

ZANESVILLE − The Community Development Committee of Zanesville City Council will meet at 5 p.m. Monday in council chambers of city hall.

Discussed ordinances are participation in the Natural Resources Assistance Council and/or Ohio Public Works Commission Clean Ohio Fund programs and the purchase of property contingent with a successful application for Clean Ohio Funds.

Bird presentation at library

DUNCAN FALLS −The Ohio School of Falconry will present Nature of Flight at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Duncan Falls/Philo Library, 222 Main St., Duncan Falls. Attendees will see birds while learning about raptors and their superpowers.

North to Nashville concert set

ZANESVILLE – North to Nashville will perform from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, in the parking of Secrest Auditorium as part of the city's summer concert series. Howie Campbell will open at 5 p.m. Bring a chair. Food and beer will be available with no outside alcohol permitted.

Yoga taught at Dillon State Park

ZANESVILLE − Beach Yoga will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, at the swimming beach at Dillon State Park. It will be held again at 8 p.m. Aug. 25. Bring a yoga mat or towel.

Touch-a-truck at mall

ZANESVILLE − A touch-a-truck event with first responders and military personnel will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, at the Colony Square Mall.

Color Walk benefits homeless

ZANESVILLE – A 5K color walk to benefit Homeless Hands of Zanesville will be Saturday, starting at 522 Woodlawn Ave. Registration is at 9 a.m. for start time and color bombs at 9:30 a.m. A second start time is at 10:15 a.m. for those registering after 9:30 a.m. Registration is $20 with children under 5 free.

Rich Hill Trustees to meet

CHANDLERSVILLE − Rich Hill Township Trustees will meet in regular session at 8 p.m. July 21 at the township hall, 3640 Herron Road, Chandlersville.

Area arts programs receive funding

COLUMBUS − The Ohio Arts Council has approved 907 grants of more than $21.8 million to support artists, arts and cultural organizations, students, educators and public arts programming. It's the largest amount of awarded funding in OAC history.

Receiving sustainability grants were Big Fish Folklife of $3,938, Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds of $3,385, the musical theater camp at Muskingum University of $4,763 and the Zanesville Museum of Art of $31,568.

Also getting sustainability grants were Little Cities of Black Diamonds Council of $5,119 and Somerset Artists Co-Op of $5,360.

Ohio Farm Bureau awards funding

COLUMBUS − The Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation has recently awarded grant to fun efforts in agriculture related programming created to enhance agricultural literacy efforts while creating pathways for young people to learn about the variety and viability of careers in agriculture. The new Workforce Development and Ag Literacy grants are designed exclusively for county farm bureaus.

The Muskingum County Farm Bureau received money for the Three Gables Building at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds. It will be designed to focus on careers in agriculture. Youth will be able to interact with displays about different career paths in the field of agriculture and participate in hands-on activities, encouraging youth to discover careers in agriculture that might interest them.

Letter deadline for special election set

ZANESVILLE − The Zanesville Times Recorder will accept letters related to Issue 1 on the special election ballot for Aug. 8 until end of day July 30.

Letters must be from a local resident and include the person's full name and municipality of residence. A phone number must be included for purposes of verification, unverified letters will not be published. Letters won't run unless the letter writer confirms they did write the letter and wishes to have it published.

Limit is 350 words. Email letters in a copy and past format to trnews@zanesvilletimesrecorder.com.
