Cambridge receives $10K grant for water infrastructure

The City of Cambridge has been awarded $10,000 in grant money to help pay for equipment needed to maintain its public drinking water infrastructure. Public water systems were eligible to apply for up to $10,000 through Gov. Mike DeWine’s H2Ohio Initiative.

The city plans to use the money to purchase a portable valve operator and a telescopic valve for the valve operator.

Bilyeu named to president's list

Karah Bilyeu, a junior educational studies major from Cambridge, was named to the Bob Jones University spring 2023 president's list.

Author to speak at Civil War Roundtable

Jon-Eric Gilot, author and authority on the Civil War in the Ohio Valley and West Virginia, will speak on Jenkins' Raid at 6:30 on Thursday at the meeting of the Southeastern Ohio Civil War Roundtable, in the Chapel Room of the Ninth Street Methodist Church. Gilot's presentation will focus on the 1862 and 1863 advances by Confederate Brigadier General Albert Gallatin Jenkins to the Ohio River and, in 1862, into Ohio itself.

Commissioners issue proclamation

The Guernsey County Commissioners recently proclaimed May to be Community Action Month. The proclamation comes in recognition of the hard work and dedication of Ohio and Guernsey County's Community Action agencies.

Watershed board meeting in New Philadelphia

A meeting of the board of directors of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Kent State University Tuscarawas, 330 University Drive NE, New Philadelphia.
