Steel band playing for concert series

NEW CONCORD − Celebrate New Concord will have its next installment of the summer concert series at 7 p.m. July 25 at Village Park, 2 W. Main St.

Found Sound Steel Band will perform. The band was created by Matt Dudack and is comprised of alumni of the University of Akron Steel Drum Band.

Refreshments will be for sale by the National Trail Ruritan Club. The New Concord Farmers Market will be from 4 to 7 p.m. The concert will be aired at 2 p.m. Friday to Sunday on WMCO 90.7. Go to facebook.com/CelebrateNewConcord for more information.

Frazeysburg pool gets grant

FRAZEYSBURG − The Village of Frazeysburg recently received a grant of $10,578.96 from the Schooler Foundation for repairs and other items at the Frazeysburg Community Pool.

Money will be used for a replacement pump, two new lifeguard chairs and repairs to pool ladders.

MU announces new pathway for program

NEW CONCORD − Muskingum University is launching an alternative pathway to its master's of occupational therapy program. It enables individuals with a bachelor’s degree in health-related fields to complete prerequisite courses leading to admission in the master’s program.

Courses are taught online along with 18 on-campus weekend learning experiences providing hands-on learning for students. Students are selected into a cohort each fall and follow a full-time set rotation of courses throughout the program. Upon graduation students will be prepared for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy exam.

The program has a status of accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education of the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Concert in Shawnee

SHAWNEE − Marietta Road will play for the Shawnee Second Saturday concerts from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 12 in Downtown Shawnee. There will be a beer garden, children's games, artists and Denny's Backyard BBQ.

Walk to Remember set

NEW LEXINGTON − The Alzheimer's Alliance of Perry County will hold its annual Alzheimer's Walk to Remember at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 12 at Jim Rockwell Stadium, 101 Third Ave., New Lexington.

Prizes will include most spirit, oldest participant and youngest participant. Register online at alzalliancepc.com/walk-pag.

Committee meeting canceled

ZANESVILLE −The Ways and Means Committee meeting for Monday has been canceled. The next meeting is 5 p.m. Aug. 21

Citizenship Contest winners named

NEW CONCORD − The 11th annual Citizenship Contest by the National Trail Ruritan Club was held for second and fifth grade students at East Muskingum Local Schools. Winners were honored during the New Concord Firemen's Festival.

Second grade poster winners were Blake Hard in first, Emmy Stamm in second and Cora Wilson in third. Earning honorable mentions were Briley Buchanan, Abel Duran, Liesel Hansis, Estelle Riggle and Griffin Wright.

Fifth grade essay winners were Caitlyn Morris in first, Audra Koch in second and Preslie Dry in third. Earning honorable mentions were Chloe Boykin, Max Daniels, Chloe Derry, and Ellie Groza.

Auditor's office gives tax distribution

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum Count Auditor's Office has released second half real estate taxes distribution for the current year.

On the county level the general fund is receiving $1,905,948.15, sheriff levy is $265,514.56, Starlight levies are $1,638,816.88, Mental Health and Recovery Services Board is $617,218.43, center for seniors levy is $354,563.70, two health levies generated $1,093,825.46, tuberculosis levy is $293,981.54, children services levy is $1,469,930.37, library levy got $993,836.99 and the park district received $179,612.21.

For local schools, East Muskingum got $2,445,856.94, Franklin got $4,699,967.52, Maysville got $1,915,975.29, Tri-Valley got $6,939,047.23, West Muskingum got $4,467,027.62, Zanesville got $5,010,029.73 and Mid-East received $2,333,417.15.

For villages and cities, Adamsville got $1,140.13, Dresden got $159,596.12, Frazeysburg got $61,657.93, Fultonham got $1,027.26, Gratiot got $863.04, New Concord got $56,082.94, Norwich got $4,648.96, Philo got $23,202.01, Roseville got $18,736.60, South Zanesville got $63,357.97 and Zanesville received $541,082.94.
