West Lafayette man injured in crash

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a single-vehicle crash at 2:11 p.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of South Second Street.

Authorities said Tyler L. Taylor, 29, of West Lafayette was traveling north when he went left of center and off the roadway. He continued over an embankment and partially over the river bank before striking a tree and coming to rest. He was extricated by mechanical means.

Taylor was transported to Coshocton Regional Medical Center and flown by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with unknown injuries. He was listed in critical condition at Grant on Wednesday morning.

Also assisting were the Coshocton Fire Department, Three Rivers Fire District, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services and REACT.

Three injured in two-vehicle crash

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a two-vehicle crash at 4:13 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Chestnut and North Fourth streets.

Authorities said Tracy Webster, 46, of Warsaw, was traveling west on Chestnut Street when she struck the rear of a vehicle slowing for a traffic light operated by Richard McCune, 64, of Port Washington. Mary McCune, 52, of Port Washington, was a passenger in the vehicle.

Webster was treated and released on scene. The McCunes were transported to Genesis Coshocton Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Assisting were Coshocton Fire Department, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services, Prince's Wrecker Service and REACT.

Elderly woman involved in wreck

WEST LAFAYETTE − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a single-vehicle crash at 10:26 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Lafayette Township Roads 159 and 161.

Authorities said Sherol Grandmason, 77, of Coshocton, lost control of her 1999 Toyota and went off the right side of the roadway into a ditch. She was not injured. Assisting were West Lafayette Fire Department, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Service and Prince's Wrecker Service.

Gnadenhutten woman in U.S. 36 crash

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a single-vehicle crash at 11:23 p.m. Monday on U.S. 36, near Lafayette Township Road 170.

Authorities said Sophia Cox, 18, of Gnadenhutten, was traveling east when she hydroplaned on the wet roadway, went off the left side of the road and into the median. She was not injured. Assisting were Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services, West Lafayette Fire Department and Prince's Wrecker Service.

Community Band performing

WARSAW − The Coshocton Community Band will present a concert titled "Tributes" at 7 p.m. Friday, on the Coshocton County Court Square. Selections include "Bacharach and David Medley," "Carole King Portrait," "Tribute to Count Basie," and "The Beatles Remembered." The concert will be canceled if it rains.

Locals make YSU dean's list

YOUNGSTOWN − Alicia Lonsinger of Walhonding and Alexi Prater of West Lafayette were named to the spring semester dean's list at Youngstown State University. Lonsinger is majoring in civil engineering and Prater in business administration.

Guggisberg wins cheese award

MILLERSBURG − Guggisberg Ziller of Millersburg was awarded first place in the emmental-style category of the 2023 American Cheese Society Competition Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Winners were announced at the recent annual conference in Des Moines, Iowa.

Products are graded by industry professionals on a point system for their flavor, aroma, texture and appearance. First to third place is awarded per category. This year's contest featured 1,454 entries and Guggisburg Ziller was among the top 15 selected. The company also earned a first place at the Ohio State Fair and second at the World Championship Cheese Contest.

Faith on the Field is Sunday

WARSAW − Fellowship of Christian Athletes will hold its fourth annual Faith on the Field from 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday, on the football field of River View High School. In case of rain it will be held in the high school auditorium.

All elements, including speakers and music, are student led. Many areas churches are closing their doors and encouraging their congregations to attend the non-denominational event. Guest speaker will be River View senior Caily Shriver. Grace and Grounds coffee truck will be available.

Locals achieve at MVNU

MOUNT VERNON − Kenzie Potter of Coshocton, Ashley Mast and Megan Peck of Walhonding, Macey Geog and Allison Prouty of Warsaw were named to the spring semester dean's list at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.

Letter deadline for special election set

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton Tribune will accept letters related to Issue 1 on the special election ballot for Aug. 8 until end of day July 30.

Letters must be from a local resident and include the person's full name and municipality of residence. A phone number must be included for purposes of verification; unverified letters will not be published. Letters won't run unless writers confirms they did write the letter and wish to have it published.
