CIB launching tree planting program

COSHOCTON − Coshocton in Bloom, via the generosity of a local donor, is offering to plant a tree on any property requested in the City of Coshocton.

Applications are due by Sept. 30. Send your name, address and contact information to CIB, P.O. Box 1221, Coshocton, OH 43812.

A member of CIB will then reach out to evaluate your property for the planting of a proper tree in a proper location.

Family event Saturday on court square

COSHOCTON − A free family event will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday on the Coshocton Court Square. Bring lawn chairs.

There will be a vendor fair, live music, giveaways, raffles and outdoor family activities. The Sno Shack and Hot Dog Diggety Cart will be present with a hot dog eating contest at 4:30 p.m.

Back to Church Sunday recognized at Prairie Chapel

COSHOCTON − National Back to Church Sunday will be recognized during 10:30 a.m. worship services Sunday at Prairie Chapel Methodist Church, 45494 County Road 23. Pastor is Matt Wilson.

More than 30,000 churches participate in this movement to explore local churches since it started in 2009. For more information, call the church at 740-622-3992.

Kids stuff sale upcoming in Millersburg

MILLERSBURG − The Coshocton County Kids Stuff Sale will be from noon to 8 p.m. Oct. 6, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 7 and 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Clark Community Center, 1390 Ohio 83, Millersburg. Sunday is half priced day.

One can buy and sell gently used kids items such as clothes, shoes, toys, games, books, room décor and more. Sizes range from infant to juniors with some maternity clothes available as well. There will also be a table of items for purchase for donation to Operation Christmas Child.

BPW having cake auction Nov. 4

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton Business and Professional Women will have its 18th annual cake auction at 4 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Frontier Power Community Meeting Room, 770 S. Second St.

Cake drop-off will be from 5 to 7 p.m. that Friday and 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Public viewing and voting will be from noon to 4 p.m. Awards will be for best kid's cake, people's choice and most unusual.

COSHOCTON − Coshocton City Schools will have a blended learning day with students completing work at home on Monday.

COSHOCTON − Trick or treating in the City of Coshocton will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28.

Locals achieve at ZSC

ZANESVILLE − Kamryn McGinnis of Coshocton was named to the summer semester dean's list at Zane State College. Named to the honorable mentions list were Dean Moran of Conesville, Maliya Williams of Coshocton and Lexa Guilliams and Georgia Haines of Warsaw.

Ridgewood athletic director honored

WEST LAFAYETTE − Jesse Smoulder, Ridgewood High School assistant principal and athletic director, is being inducted into the Wheeling Central Athletic Hall of Fame in Wheeling, West Virginia. This will be during the Wheeling Central and Midland Trail football game.

Smoulder was a 1999 graduate of Wheeling Central High School. He was an all-state performer in cross country and baseball. During his senior year, he finished 25th in the state championship for cross country.

As a senior in baseball, He lead his team to a state championship. In the state tournament, Smoulder recorded pitching wins in the semi-final and championship games. He was named to the all-tournament team.

During the year, he was named to first team all-state with a 7-1 pitching record with an ERA of 1.04 and a batting average of .465.
