Goodarzi named to college board of trustees

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA — Dr. Bijan Goodarzi has been named to the board of trustees at Davis and Elkins College. He graduated from the college cum laude in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in biology and received its Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2021.

Goodarzi is the chief medical officer and medical director of women's health for Muskingum Valley Health Centers. He attended the Marshall University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Akron City Hospital.

YSU releases academic rolls

YOUNGSTOWN — Luke Craft of Somerset and Maggie Hutcheson and Delaney Zimmermand of Zanesville were named to the spring semester dean's list at Youngstown State University.

Named to the president's list were Kylan Harper of Zanesville and Corin Tom of Chandlersville.

Wilson makes dean's list

ROANOKE, VIRGINIA — Rhyann Wilson of Zanesville was named to the spring semester dean's list at Hollins University.

Mudgett serving sports internship

MARIETTA — Josh Mudgett of Duncan Falls, a recent graduate of Marietta College's sports management program, will be serving a nine-month internship with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of America starting Sept. 6.

He's be serving another internship this summer with Ballparks of America in Branson, Missouri, which runs weeklong youth baseball tournaments.

Pickin' in the Pavilion planned

NEW CONCORD — Pickin' in the Pavilion will be at 7 p.m. July 10 at Rix Mills Presbyterian Church, 2770 Rix Mills Road, New Concord. Playing is Sons of Maverick and the Green Valley Pickers.

PCRT gives scholarships

NEW LEXINGTON — The Perry County Retired Teachers recently awarded scholarships to Melanie Clum and Jerimiah Schluep.

Clum is a graduate of Sheridan High School and incoming senior at Ohio University Lancaster. She's studying to obtain for preK-5 license. She's a substitute teacher for Northern Local Schools and assists with softball.

Schluep is an eighth grade math teacher at New Lexington Middle School and is seeking a master's degree in education at Muskingum University to receive his principal licensure.
