Committees meetings canceled

ZANESVILLE − The public safety and crime and violence committees of Zanesville City Council have canceled scheduled meetings for June 5.

Hydrants being checked

ZANESVILLE − The City of Zanesville will be flushing fire hydrants from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the general area of Talley, Echo and Westwood drives and Pine, Seborn, Maysville, Alfred, New York and Arch streets, along with all related side streets.

Residents may experience low water pressure and discoloration and should refrain from doing laundry until after 4 p.m.

Locals achieve at Grove City College

GROVE CITY, PENNSYLVANIA − Eve Davis of Nashport has been named to the spring semester dean's list with distinction at Grove City College. The Tri-Valley High School graduate and daughter of Luke and Ruth Davis is majoring in history and social studies with a secondary education certification.

Janessa Dawson of Zanesville was named to the dean's list with high distinction. The graduate of Tri-Valley High School and daughter of Troy and Janeen Dawson is majoring in biology/health.

Both also graduated from college during spring commencement.

Holmes legislation passes house

COLUMBUS − Rep. Adam Holmes (R-Nashport) had a resolution for the State of Ohio to observe the United States Semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026, unanimously pass the Ohio House of Representatives.

Events will be planned, developed and coordinated through the Ohio Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial, which was established during the 134th General Assembly. Holmes is a member of the commission.
