One injured in Sixth Street wreck

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a one-vehicle crash at 7:14 a.m. Wednesday on South Sixth Street, near Elm Street.

Authorities said Stephanie Jones, 37, of Coshocton, lost control of a 2015 Honda, went off the left side of the road, struck a tree and overturned. She was extricated by emergency personnel and transported to Coshocton Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

Assisting were Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services, Coshocton Fire Department and Prince's Wrecker Service.

Wesley's Memorial Ride is Sunday

COSHOCTON − Wesley's Benefit and Memorial Ride will be Sunday at Army Navy Garrison 628, 133 S. Sixth St. Registration is at noon with the first bike out at noon.

Proceeds will benefit the family of Wesley Reichman, who died suddenly on April 17. Registration for the memorial ride is $5 a person.

A spaghetti dinner will be at 4 p.m. with live music and a silent auction will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Call Tosha Renee for more information at 740-575-2851.

Tree to be pruned Sunday

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton Tree Commission recently met for the month and discussed continued revisions to city registration regarding the commission, formed in 2014, and care of trees in city limits. The city is also working on grants for tree planting and care.

Tom Heading of the commission is contacting the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office concerning a Bradford pear tree on Chestnut Street that was knocked over recently by a car. Trimming of Bradford pear trees along Main Street will be done Sunday. Branches will be left in piles for the city to collect.

Trees at 904 S. Sixth St. and 145 S. 10th St. were added to the to be pruned list. A dead tree at 745 S. Sixth St. is set for removal.

Anyone with tree concerns or questions can contact Bob Beaumont at 740-622-1465 and he will pass information onto the commission.

Aldersgate celebration is Wednesday

CONESVILLE − A Celebration of Aldersgate Day will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Conesville United Methodist Church, 196 State St.

The event celebrates the night in 1738 when John Wesley, founder of the Methodist Church, had a spiritual awakening. Peter Wolfgang will give a brief description of Wesley's ideas. Alice Hoover will portray Wesley's mother, Susan.

Conesville alumni banquet set

CONESVILLE − The annual Conesville alumni banquet will be at 2:30 p.m. June 3 at Conesville Elementary School, 199 State St. Dinner is at 5 p.m. Cost is $10.

Attendees are encouraged to bring photos and written down thoughts and memories to share. Scholarships will be given to graduating River View seniors who attended Conesville Elementary School.

Locals get Capital Scholarships

COLUMBUS − The Main Street Scholarship at Capital University promises a minimum of $20,000 annually to all first time-in-college, full-time undergraduate students entering their first year of college. Starting for students entering in fall 2023, the Main Street Scholarship was expanded to a full-tuition and mandatory fees award for applicants who meet grade point average and minimum household income requirement.

Among locals receiving scholarships were Addison Streer of Millersburg, Brooklyn Ranalli of Coshocton, Jack Johnson of Kimbolton, Megan Parry of Newcomerstown and Quincy Hains of West Lafayette.

Local students achieve at BGSU

BOWLING GREEN − Jenna Ranalli of Coshocton and Lane Wahl of Warsaw were named to the spring semester dean's list at Bowling Green State University.

Heating bill assistance offered

CAMBRIDGIDE − The Ohio Department of Development and the Area Agency on Aging Region 9 is offering Home Energy Assistance Program help for heating bills for elderly Ohioans at or below 175% of the federal poverty level through May 31.

Applicants must provide most recent utility bill, list of household members, proof of income, proof of citizenship and proof of disability, if applicable. Go to energyhelp.ohio.gov for more information or call the Area Agency on Aging at 844-932-7211.
