Work zone shift for Ohio 16 paving

COSHOCTON − The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced a work zone shift for the pavement replacement on Ohio 16 from the Muskingum County line to Spitler Drive.

Starting June 19, the work zone will move from the Muskingum County line at Ross Truck Sales to just east of Township Road 288. It will take four days to mobilize from the current work zone and set up maintenance of traffic for the new zone.

Traffic will continue to be able to go westbound, with eastbound traffic having to detour. The suggested detour is Ohio 16 to Ohio 60 to Ohio 541 to Ohio 16. Westbound traffic will have access to Township Road 288, County Road 75 and Township Road 483C.

County Road 12 closed for culvert replacement

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Engineer's Office has announced that County Road 12 will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Thursday from Ohio 83 to Keene Township Road 206 for culvert replacements. The closure started Monday.

Two injured in ATV wreck

DRESDEN − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported an ATV crash at 12:33 a.m. Saturday in the 18000 block of County 54 in Washington Township.

Authorities said Terry J. Swartz Jr., 23, of Frazeysburg, was westbound on Township Road 73 when he lost control of the ATV. It rolled across County Road 54 and came to rest on its side on Township Road 67B. Swartz and passenger Ryan P. Dilley, 23, of Zanesville, were transported to Genesis Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Assisting were Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services, Dresden Fire Department and Prince's Wrecker Service.

Horse and buggy struck on U.S. 36

NEW CASTLE − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a motor vehicle versus horse and buggy crash at 6:26 p.m. Friday in the 32000 block of U.S. 36 in New Castle Township.

Authorities said Karma K. Lamb, 64, of Fredericktown, was traveling west when a horse and buggy operated by a juvenile stopped in front of her. Lamb attempted to slow down and swerve around the buggy, but struck it in the rear. The juvenile was flown by MedFlight to Ohio University Wexner Medical Center for treatment of unknown injuries. Lamb wasn't injured.

Assisting were Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services, Walhonding Valley Fire District and Prince's Wrecker Service.

Two vehicles collide on Ohio 93

WEST LAFAYETTE − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a two-vehicle collision at 4:06 p.m. Saturday on Ohio 93, near U.S. 36.

Authorities said Caleb Grandstaff, 20, of Coshocton, was traveling north when he failed to yield to oncoming traffic while attempting to turn left into a private drive. He collided with a vehicle operated by Ashley Duhamel, 38, of Coshocton.

Duhamel was treated and released on scene and Grandstaff was taken to Genesis Coshocton Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Assisting were the West Lafayette Fire Department, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services and Prince's Wrecker Service.

Akron man injured in motorcycle wreck

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a motor vehicle versus motorcycle crash shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday on Ohio 83, near Clark Township Road 222.

Authorities said mark Foertch, 64, of Akron, was traveling north on a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle when he lost control rounding a curve. He went left of center and struck a 2021 Nissan driven by Marvin Shepler, 80, of Millersburg. Foertch was ejected from the bike and came to rest in a field.

Shepler was treated and released on scene. Passenger Raychel Shepler, 74, of Millersburg, was taken to Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg for treatment of unknown injuries. Foertch was flown by Cleveland Metro LifeFlight to Akron City Hospital. Assisting were Walhonding Valley Fire Department, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services and Prince's Wrecker Service.

Vehicle strikes deer on Ohio 93

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a vehicle striking a deer shortly before noon Sunday on Ohio 93, near Hickory Flats Drive.

Authorities said Joy Smith, 29, of Coshocton, was treated and released on scene. Assisting were the West Lafayette Fire Department, West Lafayette Police Department, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services and Prince's Wrecker Service.
