Power pole replacement impacts traffic

ZANESVILLE − The City of Zanesville will be replacing powers poles and traffic lights starting at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Greenwood Avenue and Market Street. Flaggers will be on site. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes. There is no time estimate for when work will be completed.

ACPS board to meet

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum County Adult and Child Protective Services board will meet in regular session at 5 p.m. June 1 at the board office, 205 N. Seventh St.

Locals get Capital scholarships

COLUMBUS − The Main Street Scholarship at Capital University promises a minimum of $20,000 annually to all first time-in-college, full-time undergraduate students entering their first year of college. Starting for students entering in fall 2023, the Main Street Scholarship was expanded to a full-tuition and mandatory fees award for applicants who meet grade point average and minimum household income requirement.

Local students receiving scholarships were Lucas Ruetz and Selah Murphy of Zanesville and Trinton Cottrell of Roseville.

Locals achieve at BGSU

BOWLING GREEN − Pamela Losego of New Concord recently graduated Bowling Green State University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.

Making the spring semester dean's list were Madeline Hreha of Dresden, Janessa Jewell of Nashport, Rachel Meadows of Trinway, Sydney Davis of Chandlersville, Tomi Starcher of Roseville, Ashlynne Swackhammer of Thornville, Avreon Dickinson of New Lexington, Mackenzie Krigbaum of McConnelsville, Christopher Green of Adamsville and Matthew Weingarth, Lakin Parker, Kemery Aichele and Kaylee Britenburg of Zanesville.

Heating bill assistance offered

CAMBRIDGIDE − The Ohio Department of Development and the Area Agency on Aging Region 9 is offering Home Energy Assistance Program help for heating bills for elderly Ohioans at or below 175% of the federal poverty level through May 31.

Applicants must provide most recent utility bill, list of household members, proof of income, proof of citizenship and proof of disability, if applicable. Go to energyhelp.ohio.gov for more information or call the Area Agency on Aging at 844-932-7211.
