Power being restored locally

COLUMBUS — American Electric Power is still restoring power outages caused by two early Tuesday storms. Trees and utility poles were damaged.

Crooksville was to have full electricity restored by 1 p.m. Wednesday. Other estimates are 5 p.m. Thursday for McConnelsville and 4 p.m. Friday for Zanesville.

AEP said approximately 1,400 line, tree, assessor, contractor and support personnel are fully engaged with approximately 450 additional personnel scheduled to start on Wednesday. In addition, drones and four helicopters have been working in the Upper Sandusky, Lexington, Cambridge, Wooster and Zanesville areas to assist in assessment efforts.

Pride festival planned

ZANESVILLE — The Zanesville Pride Festival will be from noon to 5 p.m. June 25 at Zane's Landing Park.

Wild Ohio Therapy will be present with animals. Scheduled to perform are Lucy Lipps, Sasha Bloomingdale and Desiree Diamond among others. The event also features food, vendors and raffles. Call 740-455-0609 for more information.

Holmes having local office hours

COLUMBUS — Rep. Adams Holmes of the 97th District of the Ohio House of Representatives will have local office hours upcoming.

Residents can ask questions and bring up concerns with members of his office. Walk-ins are welcome.

Sessions will be from noon to 4 p.m. July 15 at the John McIntire Library, 220 N. Fifth St., and noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 12 at the New Concord Branch Library, 77 W. Main St.

MARIETTA — Several local students recently graduated Marietta College during spring commencement.

Morgan White of McConnelsville earned a bachelor's degree in music education. Tyler Walker of New Concord graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in history.

Caleb Craig and Anna Priest of Dresden graduated cum laude with bachelor's degrees in petroleum engineering.

Emily Kinney of Zanesville graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and mathematics. Tess Nichols of Zanesville received a bachelor's degree in music and marketing.

CEDARVILLE — Tallon Mount of Thornville recently graduated from Cedarville University with a degree in management.

Kumler earns biochemistry degree

CANTON, NEW YORK — Erin Kumler of New Concord recently graduated cum laude from St. Lawrence University with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry.
