Building projects get funding

COSHOCTON − Two building restoration projects in the Downtown Coshocton area recently received funding from the Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grants Program through the National Park Service. Other projects receiving funding were in Cambridge, Marietta and Millersburg.

The grants focus on rehabilitation of historic buildings that prioritize economic impact, use of commercial first-floor space and upper-floor residential space and encourage reactivation of vacant spaces.

The Honey House at 422 to 424 Main St. will receive $59,990 for restoration of the structure's wooden windows. The Row Houses at 603 Chestnut St. will get $50,000 for masonry work and repairs to the gutters and downspouts, exterior wood elements and porches.

Three injured in Ohio 751 wreck

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a traffic crash at 2:37 p.m. Thursday in the 28000 block of Ohio 751.

Authorities said Christopher Smith, 40, of Fresno, was traveling north in a 2007 Lincoln when he went left of center and struck a 2010 Toyota traveling south driven by Robert Scherer, 68, of West Lafayette. Candy Scherer, 61, was a passenger in the Toyota.

All three were transported to Coshocton Genesis Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Assisting were the Bakersville Fire Department, Prince's Wrecker Service and Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services.

Man trapped in semi wreck

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a traffic crash at 11:29 a.m. Thursday on Ohio 60, south of County Road 439 in Washington Township.

Authorities said Patrick Vaughn, 65, of Warsaw, was traveling north in a 2006 Peterbilt when the steel he was hauling shifted and the trailer went off the right side of the roadway. The trailer struck a guardrail and overturned, coming to rest in a creek bed.

Vaughn was trapped inside the vehicle and was extricated by first responders. He was transferred to Genesis Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Assisting were Dresden Fire and EMS, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services, Ohio Department of Transportation and Prince's Wrecker Service.

NAMI support group to meet

COSHOCTON − The National Alliance on Mental Illness Family Support Group in Coshocton County will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 17 at the Allwell Building, 710 Main St. Jeannette Hall, interim co-director of Coshocton Behavioral Health Choices and a licensed counselor, will present on family systems.

Port authority slated to meet

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton Port Authority Board of Directors will meet in regular session at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday at the new office, 534 Main St.

CES to hold family reading night

COSHOCTON − A family reading night will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Coshocton Elementary School, 1202 Cambridge Road. It will feature the magic of Doug Scheer, pizza, books, door prizes and more for families of the district.
