Worship service opens fair

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum County 4H Junior Leadership Club conducted an opening worship service for the Muskingum County Fair.

More than 350 were in attendance. Caiden Hogue of Adamsville is the club leader and chaired the event with Eliza Jane Morrow of New Concord planning music. Pastor Christopher Riggs of Washington Township Baptist Church gave the message. Mike Maguire and Ryan Kimpel of Rushing Winds Biker Church played the music.

An offering collected $1,500, which was donated to the Muskingum County 4-H Endowment Fund.

South Zanesville Council to meet

SOUTH ZANESVILLE − The Village of South Zanesville Council will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. Tuesday in council chambers, 24 E. Main St., South Zanesville. The personnel committee will meet prior at 5:45 p.m.

Community High School having special meeting

ZANESVILLE − The Zanesville Community High School board will meet in special session to discuss personnel at noon Wednesday at the board office, 920 Moxahala Ave.

Land bank to meet

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum County Land Reutilization Corporation, commonly known as the land bank, will meet at 8 a.m. Thursday in the boardroom of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce. On the agenda is new property acquisitions, bids for consideration and other discussion items.

Mid-East BOE changes meeting date

SENECAVILLE − Mid-East Career and Technology Centers Board of Education will meet in regular session at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Buffalo Campus, 57090 Vocational Road, Senecaville. This is a date change from previously announced.

OSU alumni having campaign drive

ZANESVILLE − The Ohio State Alumni Club of Muskingum County is conducting a scholarship fund campaign through September to raise money for local scholarships for Muskingum County students attending OSU.

Donations can be made by mailing Treasurer Donna Cole - The OSU Alumni Club of Muskingum County, P.O. Box 146, Zanesville, OH 43702-0146. Checks and money orders should be made out to the Ohio State University Foundation. Note the fund number of 308618 and include your name, address, telephone number and email address. Donations can also be made at osu.edu/giving by clicking on Give Today and searching for the fund number.

Donors will be entered into a raffle to win the right to purchase tickets for football games against Michigan State on Nov. 11 and Minnesota on Nov. 18. The drawing will be held Sept. 30 with winner notified by Oct. 2. It's one entry per $25 given. New support group forming

ZANESVILLE − A community family and friends support and education group is being formed by nine local behavioral and mental providers to assist in understanding substance use disorder and mental health issues.

Meetings will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays starting Sept. 6 at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department, 205 N. Seventh St. For more information, contact Monica Batteiger at 740-586-7031 or monicab@zmchd.org.

Daniels makes dean's list

BOWLING GREEN − Sydney Daniels of Chandlersville was named to the summer semester dean's list at Bowling Green State University.

Locals achieve at COTC

NEWARK − Amanda Whalen of Chandlersville, Ava Barrick of Thornville and Justice Davis of Zanesville were named to the summer semester president's list at Central Ohio Technical College.

Named to the summer semester dean's list were Zackery McKee and Haley Wright of Nashport and Brittney Adams, Atlanta Huff and Kelsey Murvine of Zanesville.

Cardiologist joins Genesis

ZANESVILLE − Dr. Dilpreet Singh has joined Genesis Heart and Vascular Group, specializing in cardiology.

He earned his doctorate of medicine at American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in St. Maarten. He completed his residency in internal medicine at University of South Florida, HCA West Florida Division, Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida. He completed two fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at Michigan State University and Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan.
