Local news dump: Loggerhead Center's new CEO & a trash contract for Jupiter

Happy Thursday, and welcome to The Post on Jupiter.

One of my favorite things about working for a newspaper is the ~ range ~ of news we get to cover and bring to you. This week's newsletter is no exception: I have big hiring news, garbage news, and hospital news all in one!

Let's dive right in. Loggerhead Marine Life Center hired a new CEO last week. The center announced the move on Friday morning, which got a little lost in the news shuffle (understandably).

Check out the story below to see who Loggerhead hired and whether the center's sea turtle tanks will be repopulated.

Also in this week's newsletter is an update on a 150-bed hospital planned right across Donald Ross Road near Alton. The developers had an info session last week that I attended, and I prepared the report below.

Finally, trash news! You may remember Jupiter's near-breakup with Waste Management in February that resulted in a rate hike for garbage pickup. Now, the town has approved a new, remarkably long eight-year contract for waste removal.

Read about the details (and the price) below.

That's the news for the week. Happy Independence Day!
