Local nonprofit Fertile Ground Foundation hosts first annual Queen’s Charity Lunch
April 23 through April 29 is National Infertility Awareness Week.
According to the Mayo Clinic, about 10 to 18% of couples struggle with some form of infertility.
A local Charlotte nonprofit, Fertile Ground, hosted its first annual Queen’s Charity Lunch on Saturday at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Ayrsley in southwest Charlotte. Fertile Ground is a voice for women battling infertility, and Saturday’s luncheon was used to help raise awareness and donations to the nonprofit.

Funds raised at Saturday’s event will be used for the Fertile Ground Foundation grant. The winner will be chosen at the end of the year to cover reproductive assistance and procedure costs, along with other fees.
Director of Reproductive Specialists of the Carolinas and founding physician, Dr. Markita Johnson, was a keynote speaker at the event. Johnson was recently named one of Charlotte’s ‘Great 28, a list of influential Queen City citizens.
