Local photographers share 7 of the most photogenic places in Volusia and Flagler counties

Autumn delivers some of the most picturesque western skyline sunsets. Summer sunrises are spectacular. And winter and spring have their own unique charms, too.

While the skies are ever-changing, there are locations across Volusia and Flagler counties that consistently produce wondrous environments for photography, no matter what time of year it is.

Here's a list of seven of the most picturesque places, according to three local professional photographers: Mark Dickinson of Port Orange, Kenzie Rae McMullen of Ormond Beach, and Steve Simoneau of DeLand.

Gemini Springs Park

ADDRESS: 37 Dirksen Dr., DeBary.

Nestled between historic Enterprise and DeBary, this 212-acre plot was once used to raise cattle, harvest turpentine and grow sugar cane. It became a Volusia County park in 1994.

Washington Oaks State Park

Gardens surround an ancient historic live oak tree in the park, while the adjacent beach with its coquina rock formations along the Atlantic coastline offer unique, natural experience.

Downtown DeLand and Stetson University

ADDRESS: 345 N. Woodland Blvd.

Consists of lively businesses in old buildings, the Historic Courthouse, attractive streetscapes, fountains, giant murals and alleyways with brick facades that provide dozens of spots for photography. It was also awarded with the Great American Main Street Award. And Stetson's campus, which was founded in 1883, is beautifully landscaped. Hollis Fountain, surrounded by Palm Court, is a frequent spot for pictures.

ADDRESS: 931 S. Peninsula Dr., Ponce Inlet, as well as Lighthouse Point Park, 3000 S. Atlantic Ave., Ponce Inlet.

The 175-foot lighthouse was constructed in 1887 and is open for visitors to climb to the top. This spot's views of the inlet to the Halifax River offer lots of opportunities for photographing big boats and sunsets in addition to, of course, the lighthouse.

Princess Place Preserve

A 1,500-acre preserve provides wooded sunsets, historic buildings and views of the confluence of Pellicer Creek, Moody Creek and the Matanzas River.

Downtown Ormond Beach

From the bridge over the Halifax River to the Casements, former home of John D. Rockefeller, to the restaurants and boutiques along Granada Boulevard, there's lots of scenery here for photos. The downtown includes views of the river and the Atlantic Ocean.
