Local rail crossing finally getting fixed: I-Team

BROOK PARK, Ohio (WJW) – The FOX 8 I-Team has found repair work finally getting close to starting at a local rail crossing which has been a problem for a long time.

The mayor of Brook Park tells us he expects the CSX rail company to make repairs next month at a rough crossing on Engle Road under the Snow Road bridge.

Drive by there now and you can see supplies delivered for the repairs.

Last year, the I-Team put a spotlight on the rail crossing there since it’s been cited by inspectors again and again.

Brook Park officials also have demanded action to fix hazards causing concern about danger to drivers and passing trains.

“Well, we can breathe easy once the project’s done. Obviously we’re very concerned for all the residents and motorists that come to our city every day. We would just like to see that that’s repaired,” said Mayor Ed Orcutt on Friday.

The Mayor says CSX has told him the work has been set for sometime in March, and that crossing may have to be closed to traffic for two weeks.

Last year, when we reported on this, CSX released a statement, saying in part, “CSX works with local and state authorities to address rough crossings in a timely manner.”
