Local restaurant chain Tom & Jerry's to open fourth location in Rockford area

LOVES PARK — Ground is expected to be broken next month for a Tom & Jerry's restaurant at 7170 E. Riverside Blvd.

The site sits among a cluster of restaurants between McFarland and Galleria roads in front of Blain's Farm and Fleet.

Restaurant owner Bob Grottke said the location is desirable for a couple of reasons.

The site is part of a "growth corridor" that already contains McDonalds, Taco Bell, Dairy Queen Grill and Chill, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Starbucks, the latter two businesses opening last year.

The East Riverside location also will enable the restaurant chain to expand its area for delivery service.

Grottke said, "We've had to turn a lot of business down because it was just outside of our delivery range."

Tom & Jerry's is a longtime Rock River Valley favorite offering gyros, burgers, sandwiches and milkshakes. In addition to Rockford, Grottke owns restaurants in Machesney Park and Belvidere.

Grottke said the Loves Park restaurant will employ 30 to 40 people and applicants can apply at tomandjerrys.com or call 219-802-6338 for more information.

The Loves Park restaurant is expected to open before the end of the year.
