South Aiken 9, Midland Valley 1

South Aiken moved a step closer to locking up second place in Region 5-AAAA Thursday with a 9-1 win over Midland Valley.

Leo Myers scored four goals to lead a big offensive effort by the T-Breds. Bayer Dawsey had a goal and two assists, Chris Ouzts and Dylan Brown each had a goal and an assist, Alex Maldonado and Rasheem Neloms each scored a goal, and Michael Sokolik and Jake Musick each had an assist.

The T-Breds will wrap up region play Thursday at home against Airport, and with a win they will clinch a No. 2 seed for the state playoffs.

Softball

Wagener-Salley 13, Williston-Elko 3 (5 innings)

Wagener-Salley's Gracie Starnes hit a grand slam and a solo home run to drive in five runs, and she was the winning pitcher in Thursday's victory over Williston-Elko.

Brooklyn Yon went 2-for-2 with two RBI, and Kylee Hooker, Maliah Harris and LeAnn Rawls each had hits.

Wagener-Salley will host Ridge Spring-Monetta on Monday.
