Aiken 4, Bluffton 3

Lindsey Malyszek scored the game-winning goal with 5 minutes left as Aiken High overcame an early deficit Thursday to beat Bluffton 4-3 in the second round of the Class AAAA playoffs.

The Hornets (14-4) allowed two goals in the first 10 minutes but scored three times in the second half to advance to the Lower State semifinals. Kaylee McElwain had a goal and two assists, Carolina Pettigrew had a goal and an assist, Ellie Runnels scored a goal and Mallory Rich had an assist. Mendi Watkins made six saves in net for the Hornets, who host Hilton Head Island at 11 a.m. Saturday for a spot in the Lower State championship match.

James Island 4, South Aiken 0

South Aiken's season came to an end on the road Thursday with a 4-0 loss at defending state champion James Island in the second round of the Class AAAA playoffs.

Academic Magnet 5, Fox Creek 0

A record-breaking season came to an end Thursday for Fox Creek with a 5-0 loss at Academic Magnet in the second round of the Class AAA playoffs.

Beaufort 8, Aiken 4

Beaufort scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat Aiken in a winners' bracket game in the Class AAAA playoffs. The Hornets will host West Florence on Saturday in an elimination game.

North Augusta 4, Hilton Head Island 2

North Augusta staved off elimination from the Class AAAA playoffs Thursday with a 4-2 win over Hilton Head Island. The Yellow Jackets (11-9) will host Bluffton on Saturday in another elimination game.

South Aiken 9, Darlington 5

South Aiken kept its season alive Thursday with a 9-5 win over Darlington in a Class AAAA elimination game. The T-Breds (11-11) get a rematch at North Myrtle Beach on Saturday in an elimination game.

Oceanside Collegiate 6, Strom Thurmond 0

Oceanside Collegiate blanked Strom Thurmond on Thursday in a Class AAA winners' bracket game. The Rebels (16-9) will host Waccamaw on Saturday in an elimination game.

Fox Creek 3, Marlboro County 2

Fox Creek's road warriors avoided elimination with a 3-2 at Marlboro County on Thursday. The Predators (13-15) will make their third trip of the week to Aynor on Saturday for a Class AAA elimination game.

Barnwell 4, Latta 2

Region 5-AA champion Barnwell held off Latta in a Class AA winners' bracket game Thursday and won 4-2 to put the Warhorses in the driver's seat in District 5.

Clay Pender drove in two runners, and the trio of Jerry Sanders, Haiden Sanders and Cameron Austin combined to allow just one earned run. Barnwell (14-9) will host either Latta or Buford on Monday needing just one win to advance to the Lower State tournament.

North Central 7, Silver Bluff 6

Silver Bluff was eliminated from the Class AA playoffs Thursday with a 7-6 loss to North Central.

McBee 8, Williston-Elko 0

Region 3-A champion Williston-Elko lost a Class A winners' bracket game Thursday and will host High Point Academy on Saturday in an elimination game.

Whitmire 5, Ridge Spring-Monetta 3

Ridge Spring-Monetta fell to Whitmire on Thursday in a Class A winners' bracket game. The Trojans will host Great Falls on Saturday in an elimination game.

Wagener-Salley 18, Whale Branch 0

Wagener-Salley blew out Whale Branch on Thursday in a Class A elimination game, setting up a rematch Saturday with Ware Shoals in another elimination game.
