Local Salvation Army Commanders receive promotion
LANCASTER– Local Salvation Army leaders Bryan and Laura DeMichael received an official promotion this week from Captains to Majors.
As recognition of their 15 years of active service as Salvation Army Officers, both DeMichaels were promoted to the rank of Major within the organization. Officers hold ranks throughout their service and into retirement, and their rank is reflected in their uniforms. In this case, a crest upon a red epaulet will reflect the new rank.
“We are both honored and humbled to receive this promotion,” said Major Bryan DeMichael in a news release. “It serves as a continued reminder to us of God’s faithfulness in our lives and our continued faithful service to Him.”
The DeMichaels have served as Commanding Officers in three locations since their ordination and commissioning in 2008—Greensburg, PA; Middletown; and Lancaster/Fairfield County. More than half of their career has been spent in leadership in Fairfield County, where they were appointed as Commanding Officers in 2014.
“The Board is extremely proud of all the DeMichael’s have accomplished during their tenure in Fairfield County,” said Board President Bob Heath in the news release. “This recognition is well-deserved.”
The Salvation Army is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church established in 1865. The Salvation Army in Fairfield County provides more than $1.2 million is services to those in need in Fairfield County, through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children.
