Local Sports Briefs: Adamsville UM, Rosecrans golf outings nearing

Adamsville UM holding annual scramble

The 23rd annual Adamsville United Methodist golf scramble, with proceeds going to LifeWise Academy of Tri-Valley, will be at 9 a.m. Oct. 8 at Fuller's Fairiways.

Four-person teams cost $240 and includes carts. Lunch will also be served, and the top three teams will be awarded cash prizes.

Rosecrans holding golf scramble

The annual Rosecrans golf outing will be Oct. 9 at Green Valley. Cost is $40 player and does not include cart, and the closest to pin on each hole is $25. There will also be a skins game, food and drink.

Checks should be made out to BAA (Bishops Athletic Association) and registrations can be sent to Rosecrans High School or to Ed Johnston, 2407 Center Drive, Zanesville, OH 43701.

John Glenn CC hosting Youth Fun Run

The John Glenn Cross Country Team is hosting a Youth One Mile Fun Run at 5 p.m. Sept. 27. Children in K-6th grade from any school can participate, and runners will be broken into age divisions.

Registration is $10 per child and can be completed prior to the race at Larry Miller Intermediate School in New Concord. Proceeds benefit JG Track and Cross Country Boosters. For more information, contact Coach Amy Tooms at atooms@eastmschools.org.

Jimmy Pitcock shot 29 for low gross and Glen Grady posted low net of 24 in the Rice-Galloway Optometry League.

Results from ZCC

The Ladies Auxiliary played the Stableford 1 Best Ball Net format on the back nine Wednesday. Debbie Hennessey, Janet Pompei and Paula Brunton won with 26 points followed by Toby Rogovin, Lisa Johnson, Ellen Nist and Marie Bolin with 25 and Tami Swope, Connie LaPlante and Cindy Linn with 24 points. Johnson was closest to the pin on No. 12 (8-feet-6).

Results from Crystal Springs

In the A Division of the Crystal Springs Golf Club and Community Bank Monday Morning Senior League, Don Blaney carded 35 for low gross and Tom Downs, Doug Geyer and Frank Sidwell shared low net of 34. Winning Teams were 3-5-1-11-12-2 and 13 & 9 tied.

In the B Division, Dwight Stewart shot 36 for low gross and Stewart, Steve Hartmeyer, Bill Jones, Keith Hale and Lee Ludholtz tied for low net at 34. Winning teams were 9-8-1-14-12-5-15-7.

Christian Hayden fired 34 low gross and Christian Ross had low net of 29 in the Tuesday Evening Hittle League. Winning teams were 1, 3, 5 and 8.

The final standings were Team 3 (Gary Vanhove, Larry Eby, Cody Geirhart, & Ryan Arter) in first place with 59 points with Team 6 (Tim Cooper, BJ Varner, Mark Redfern, & Kyle Redfern) second at 57.5; Team 4 (Parker Evans, Skye Bryan, Cam Craig, & Christian Ross) third with 56.5 and Team 5 (Christian Hayden, Austin Skeese, Bailey Hayden, & Zane Mealick) in fourth.
