Hennessey provided nearly all of the offense for her team is a slow first half. She had 11 points before the intermission.

"Ida’s shooting in the first half was as cold as the weather as they went 6-for-35 from the floor," Ida coach Tim Leonard said. "The only bright spot was Reese Hennessey who had four of the six baskets.

"Ida came out in the second half and did a better job going 10-for-18 from the floor."

Ida's offense came alive with 25 points in the third quarter to take a 42-10 lead over Lutheran Westland.

Kennedy Albring scored all 11 of her points in the frame.

Ida improved to 11-5 overall.

The Blue Streaks also won the junior varsity game 36-20. Olivia Scheer led with 12 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Airport 55, Southfield Christian 27

SOUTHFIELD − Playing on back-to-back nights didn't slow down Olivia Gratz.

The Airport freshman poured in 26 points to lead her team to an easy win.

“What I liked about today is the time of the game, which may sound strange, but we started at 4:30. How would we respond to the early tip? How would we respond to playing back-to-back days?" Airport coach Darrell Mossburg said. "Our kids responded well. They were focused and locked in and we were able to build a nice lead, which allowed us to see some more girls in game situations and evaluate."

Peyton Zajac added 12 points for the Jets, who led 15-4 after one quarter and 24-5 at halftime.
