New local sports radio station to launch covering Penn State and Centre County

7:45 a.m. Aug. 16 update: The original version of this story included The Steve Jones show as part of the station’s weekday programming. The Fox! announced in a press release on Aug. 15 that the show will no longer be carried “due to a conflict of interest.”

A new all-sports radio station has launched locally.

Skywave broadcasting is adding Sports Radio 98.7 FM — The Fox!, which will feature local programming for eight hours during weekdays, along with shows for high school Friday nights from Centre County.

The station launched July 17 and the new local programming lineup will launch Aug. 21.

The lineup will include The Good and Ironhead Show featuring former Nittany Lion Keith Conlin and Penn State wrestling radio voice Jeff Byers from 3-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, which will also be broadcast from Quaker Steak & Lube in State College.

Every Friday night the station will air Centre County Red Zone, which will have live updates from Centre County’s high school games, with the first show airing Aug. 25. That is in conjunction with a high schools coaches show on Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m.
