TECUMSEH – Tim Murphy (140) and Braxton Koerner (285) both recorded two pins for Monroe Wednesday.

Brock Graves (152) also went 2-0 as the Trojans beat Ypsilanti Lincoln 60-18 and lost to Tecumseh 63-16.
“We wrestled hard with the kids we had,” Monroe coach Jordan Mayes said. “They keep getting better each day and we are excited for that.”
Bedford wins twice
SALINE – Bedford recorded a pair of victories Wednesday, defeating Saline 36-30 and Ann Arbor Huron 64-0.
Going 2-0 for the Mules were Vinny Cole (103), Brock Jandasek (119), Caleb Jagielski (140), Austin Meszaros (145), Jack Nigh (152), Rollie Denker (160), Randy Boisselle (171) and Ethan Manger (189).
NEW BOSTON – New Boston went 1-1 in a home tri-meet on Wednesday, defeating Lincoln Park 39-37 but falling to Hartland 66-15. Hartland is the No. 3 ranked team in Division 1.
Huron's Kael Wisler, Wyatt Marentette and Drew Ladach all went 2-0.
Wisler had a pin against Lincoln Park and recorded an 11-4 decision against the fifth-ranked wrestler from Hartland, Chase Kern. Wisler improved to 9-0 this season.
Marentette had a pin against Hartland and Ladach bounced back from an 8-0 deficit in the first period to take a 10-8 lead before getting a fall against Hartland. Both wrestlers also improved to 9-0.
Monroe boys are 5-0
Monroe’s boys will take a 5-0 record into the holiday break after whipping Saline 27.5-2.5 at Monroe Sport Center.
LOCAL SPORTS: Carlson's Gessner records two pins in just 46 seconds
Blake Cabrera shot 247, Richard Kmiec 246 and Nick Walters 201 for the Trojans. Monroe’s girls accepted a forfeit.
The Trojans swept Ann Arbor Skyline Monday with the girls winning 30-0, the boys 27-3 and the junior varsity 29-1.
Top scores came from LJ Robertson (258), Teagen Pillette (246) and Blake Cabrera (211).
Southgate-Monroe wins big
Aidan Brodie recorded a hat trick and had an assist to lead Monroe-Southgate to an 8-0 shutout victory against Bedford on Wednesday.
Ashton Petrarca had a big game with 7 points, scoring 2 goals and adding 5 assists. Marcus King (1 goal, 2 assists), Christian Zaddock (1 goal) and Josh Calhoun (1 goal) also played well.
Kyle Sutherland earned the shutout in net.

Monroe boys rally
DEXTER – Monroe bounced back from a slow start, falling into a 14-4 hole before rallying to defeat Dexter 61-47 on Tuesday.
Lukas Johnson led all scorers with 21 points, Adam Nabozny had 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists, and Brendan McQuade added 11 points.
MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL
Bedford wraps season
TEMPERANCE – Bedford's eighth grade team defeated Adrian 42-38 in overtime to finish the season 11-1. Kason Snyder, Payton Sheaves and Ismael Hakki led the scoring. Carsen Behnke and Nick Coberley also played well.
The seventh grade team won 36-20 to complete a 13-1 season. Cashton Sedlar, Snoop Gartee and Hussein Salami led the offense. Jack Fulop had a nice pass to end the half to give the team a slim lead. Keagon Dixon, Jackson Harmon and Everett Wingate led on defense.
MIDDLE SCHOOL SWIMMING
Mason drops two
ERIE – Erie Mason posted a lot of strong times but fell to Flat Rock, 88-71, and Milan, 120-44 on Wednesday.
The top scorers for Mason's boys were Jared Tunison, David Mills, Brayden Hincher and Lucas Sachs. For the girls, Kensey Kreger, Zoie Stubleski, Kate Otting and Sophia Campbell performed well.
"So proud of all the hard work this team continues to show me," Mason coach Valerie Hempel said. "For only having nine swimmers against the 30+ the other two teams had, they all worked their tails off and every single one of them dropped time in their events."
Monroe's Smith qualifies
Monroe Middle School's Sophia Smith made a MISCA qualifying cut in the 100 free during a strong performance against Bedford. Monroe's medley relay of Smith, Jayce Hay, Madison Mahoney and Noah Carveth took first in 2:27.06.
