Local Student Artists Honored At Virtual Lewis University Event

PLAINFIELD, Ill —Plainfield High School- Central Campus senior Millie Rodriguez and Plainfield East High School sophomore Monique Klepk earned recognition, and prizes, for their artwork at the Fourth Annual Lewis University Art Invitational, which took place virtually on Jan. 11 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Rodriguez won Best in Show, earning a $50 Amazon gift card, for her oil on canvas artwork. Klepk received honorable mention, collecting a $25 Amazing gift card, for her ink artwork. Illinois high school art teachers were allowed to submit up to five pieces of student artwork for the competition. Other District 202 students participating in the event were:
