LOCAL TRACKS: Mike Colsten Remembered race scheduled for Tuesday
Jun. 17—In addition to its regular weekly program Saturday, Five Mile Point Speedway in Kirkwood, New York, will hold a midweek show Tuesday.
Headlining the card is the Mike Colsten Remembered 51 for Modifieds. The 51-lap feature honors the memory of one of the track's most successful drivers who died in January 2020. It pays a minimum of $3,000 to win plus bonus lap money. The winner gets the choice of a guaranteed starting spot in either the Fonda 200 at Fonda Speedway in New York on Sept. 17 that pays $53,000 to win or the New Yorker 50 at Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, New York, on Sept. 4. The runner-up finisher will get the starting spot that the winner doesn't select.
Also on tap are the GRIT Racing Series Sportsman in a 25-lap feature that pays $1,400 to win; the GRIT Racing Series 600cc Modifieds; and race No. 2 of the FWD Four-Cylinder Fantastic Five Racing League.
Racing is set to begin at 7:05 p.m.
On Saturday at 6:05 p.m., the weekly Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks, Four-Cylinders, Factory Stocks, 600cc Modifieds and Future Sportsman are in action. It is Community Night for Montrose, New Milford, Susquehanna, Great Bend and Hallstead. Individuals showing photo ID proof of residency receive $5 grandstand admission.
Storm warning
Bloomsburg Fair Raceway hosts the final race of the USAC Amsoil Sprint National Championship "Eastern Storm" on Sunday. Grandstands open at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 6:15 p.m. The All-Pro SpeedSTRs and NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series are also scheduled to compete.
Admission is $30 for adults and $20 for students. Children ages 12 and under are free.
The Eastern Storm is six consecutive nights of USAC Wingless Sprint Car racing that began Tuesday at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, then competed Wednesday at Bridgeport Speedway in New Jersey. Thursday's race scheduled for Selinsgrove Speedway was postponed due to rain. The tour is at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg on Friday and Port Royal Speedway on Saturday.

Penn Can Speedway in Susquehanna is idle this week. Racing returns June 24 with Hall of Fame Night. ... Hamlin Speedway is racing Saturday at 6 p.m. All divisions are in action, headlined by Race No. 2 of the Top Dog Series for Stage One Modifieds. ... Covington Twp.'s Alex Yankowski finished third in the 30-lap Modified feature at Utica-Rome Speedway. ... In the Modified feature at Afton Motorsports Park in New York, Nick Mady of Dingman's Ferry finished second and Brian Mady from Hawley was fourth. Mount Cobb's Doug Smith placed fifth in the 602 Sportsman feature and Susquehanna's Shane Wolf was second in the Street Stock feature. ... At Big Diamond Speedway in Minersville, in the annual "Topless" Modified 30-lap feature, Nick Rochinski from Dickson City finished fourth, Eddie Strada of South Canaan wound up fifth, Bobby Trapper Jr. from Scranton was 15th and Lake Ariel's Dan Hineline was 21st. Strada is second in the track standings with 510 points, 72 behind leader Duane Howard of Oley. Rochinski is fourth with 476. ... Rochinski followed up his effort at Big Diamond by winning the 30-lap Modified feature at Five Mile Point the next night. He is the first repeat winner in the division this season. ... Jordan Thomas of Harding finished eighth in the Patriot Sprint Tour 25-lap event at Selinsgrove Speedway, the 19th annual Joe Whitcomb Memorial. The next PST race is Friday at Utica-Rome Speedway.
