Local young women compete in Miss Michigan, Miss Michigan Outstanding Teen

This year, local women will compete at the Miss Michigan and Miss Michigan's Outstanding Teen Competitions held at Orchard View High School, 16 N. Quarterline Rd. in Muskegon.

Miss Michigan candidates will be competing in several categories: Private Interview, Social Impact Initiative Statement and On-Stage Question, Talent, and Red-Carpet Wear/Evening Gown.

There are 20 women competing for the title of Miss Michigan. Two are from Monroe: Kendall Madison Comer and Brooklynn Lambert.

Kendall Madison Comer
Kendall Madison Comer

Kendall Madison Comer, 18, is the daughter of Chad and Crystal Comer. The 2021 Cum Laude graduate of Bedford High School is attending Monroe County Community College pursuing a degree in Non-Profit Business Management. Comer will be singing "Hallelujah!" as her talent. Comer's social impact initiative is SPACE: Sensory Processing Awareness for Children’s Education.

Brooklynn Lambert
Brooklynn Lambert

Brooklynn Lambert, 25, is the daughter of Bo and Stena Lambert. The former Miss Monroe County 2017 is Miss South Central 2021. She is a graduate of Oakland University with a BFA in communications and minor in dance. Lambert will be performing a jazz dance to "Big Noise." Lambert's social impact initiative is Think Pink: Early Detection for Breast Cancer. Her mother, Stena, is a breast cancer survivor.

There will be 21 women competing for the title of Miss Michigan's Outstanding Teen competition. MaKayla Lynn Dickinson, Reese Hindley Johnson and Elora Elizabeth Russell are from Monroe County.

Miss Michigan's Outstanding Teen Competition candidates will be competing in several categories: Private Interview, Lifestyle and Fitness in Activewear, Talent, Evening Gown and On-Stage Question.

MaKayla Lynn Dickinsin

MaKayla Lynn Dickinson, 16, is the daughter of Zane and Brandy Crawford of Ottawa Lake. The At-Large Outstanding Teen Candidate is a junior at Whiteford High School. Her social impact initiative is Bigger Than Bullying: Reclaim Your Confidence. Her talent is musical theatre dance. She will perform to "Life of the Party."

Reese Hindley Johnson

Sixteen-year-old Reese Hindley Johnson, Miss West Michigan's Outstanding Teen 2022, is the daughter of Patrick and Emily Johnson of Monroe. She attends Monroe County Community College. Her social impact initiative is PRISM: Youth Supporting Youth. She will be singing "Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys.

Miss Monroe County Outstanding Teen 2021 Elora Elizabeth Russell is the daughter of Gina and Jerry Russell Jr. of Monroe. The 17-year-old is a senior at Airport High School. Her social impact initiative is Breaking the Cycle of Need: Helping people who are struggling to meet their daily needs of food and personal hygiene items. She has been working to help people through local mobile food pantries since she was six. Russell will be performing a ballet en pointe to "Black Swan" from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.

Six princesses from Monroe County will also be attending the event. They are Ahlona Jean Beason, CoraLee Goda, Cheyanne Rose Hipkins, Olivia Presley Haase, Genevieve Perkins and Serenity Perkins.

Tiny Miss Monroe County Princess 2021 Ahlona Jean Beason, 6, is the daughter of Amy and Brian Beason of Monroe. She is a first grader at Custer Elementary School.

Little Miss Monroe County Princess 2021 Cheyanne Rose Hipkins is the daughter of Paul and Kelly Hipkins of Monroe. She is 10 and in the fifth grade at Raisinville Elementary School.

Junior Miss Monroe County Princess 2021 Olivia Presley Haase, 12, is the daughter of Celeste and Scott Agius of Newport. She is an eighth grader at Airport Community School.

CoraLee Goda is the daughter of James and Courtney Goda. She is 10 and in the fifth grade at Mason Elementary School.

Seven-year-old Genevieve Perkins is the daughter of Dustin and Nicole Perkins. She is a second grader at Douglas Road Elementary.

Serenity Perkins, 12, is the daughter of Dustin and Nicole Perkins. She is a seventh grader at Bedford Junior High School.

Calendar of Events

Thursday, June 16 - Miss Michigan Preliminary Competition at 6:30 p.m.

Friday, June 17 - Miss Michigan Outstanding Teen Competition at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, June 18 - Miss Michigan Final Competition at 6:30 p.m.

The Miss Michigan 2022 Top 10 will be announced on stage and then the Top 10 will compete for the title. Miss Michigan 2021 Vivian Zhong will be crowning the new Miss Michigan 2022 at the end of the evening.
