Maysville Youth Soccer holding signups

Maysville Lions Youth Soccer Program is currently holding signups for boys and girls who will be entering grades 1-6 in August 2022.

Cost is $45 per player. Shirts and socks are provided by the program. Registration ends on July 14.

Forms can be mailed to Maysville Youth Soccer Program, c/o Paul Hoffman, 3230 Lakewood Dr., Zanesville, OH 43701 or can be dropped off at South Zanesville Eyecare during business hours on Monday through Thursday.

Crystal Springs hosting Junior tournament

Crystal Springs will host a Junior Golf tournament on July 28 for boys and girls ages 9-18. There will be five divisions (9-12 boys and girls, 13-18 girls, 13-15 boys, 16-18 boys and college), and tee times start at 8 a.m.

Entry Fee is $25 for ages 13 and up (includes 18 holes, food, & drink) and $20 for 9-12 and includes 9 holes, food, & drink).

Deadline is July 23. Tee times will be emailed out the day prior to the tournament. To register, email crystalspringsgolf@hotmail.com with subject line of Junior Tournament and provide name, age, gender, email, cell phone, and school or call Crystal Springs at 740-787-1114 and ask for Jocele (Mon, Wed, Thurs, & Fri 7 am-2pm; and Tues after 2 pm).

ZDGA Junior, Collegiate tourneys nearing

The Zanesville District Golf Association will hold Junior and Collegiate tournaments on July 26-27. The event is for boys and girls, ages 12-22 and must by 12 by July 26, and features the first round at Vista and the second at EagleSticks.

Deadline to enter is July 22. Entry fee is $40. Flights will be determined after the first round.

Muskingum holding annual golf outing

The Muskingum University Athletic Department is hosting its annual golf outing at EagleSticks at 11 a.m. Friday, July 15. Cost is $100 per golfer or $400 per foursome and includes 18 holes of golf, drink tickets, raffles, and dinner.

All proceeds from the event benefit Muskie student-athletes. Additionally, the event will feature a golf ball drop contest $10 per ball with a chance to win $1,000 if your ball lands closest to the hole or in the hole.

Rosecrans having soccer camp

The Junior Bishops Soccer Camp, for boys and girls in grades K through 8th, will be held July 18-20 at Rosecrans High School. Camp runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. each day.

Gieseler hits aces in Junior League

Jacqueline Gieseler had a hole-in-one with a gap wedge on the 100-yard 12th hole during the Tuesday PGA Junior League at Zanesville Country Club.

She was a member of The Virtues team, which won 11-4, and played with Molly Montgomery, Madelyn Melsheimer, Camryn Melsheimer and Landon Melsheimer.

Green Valley league results

In the MHPCC Ladies League, Kathi Galloway and Becky Weir tied for low gross at 40, and Jay Moore had low net of 27. Winning teams were 2, 8, and 10.

The Wednesday Night Parettes had Kathy Clark with low gross of 39 and low net of 27. Winning teams were 1, 3, 6, 10 and 12. Teams 4 and 11 tied.

In the Tuesday Evening Hittle League, Christian Hayden and Kyle Redfern tied for low gross at 35 and Redfern had low net of 31. The winning teams were 3, 8, 4, and 6.

ZCC Golf League results

The Thursday Evening Ladies League played a foursome scramble on the back nine, as Joan Minning, Shari Weingarth, Ann Melick and Cindy Linn won a scorecard playoff after scoring 27. Keely Dempsey, Kristy Paul and Jan Schowinsky were second with 27, and MJ Shackelford, Connie LaPlante, Ann Somple and Janet Pompei were third with 29.

The Charlie Goelz League played a foursome gross scramble, as Mike Morris, Scott Webb and Mike Zimmerer shot 5-under and won on a scorecard playoff. Second at 5-under was Blake Hartford and Dan Bogle and third, also on a scorecard playoff, at 2-under was Joe Allen, Fred Branditz, Philip Laube and Rusty Montgomery.

Zimmerer made the longest putt on No. 2 (20-feet-5), and Robb Huntsman was closest to the pin on No. 8 (6-7).

In the Ladies Auxiliary League on Wednesday, they played a Count Only Odd Holes – Best Ball Net format. The 18-hole winners at 8-under net were Lisa Johnson, Ann Somple and Susan Benincasa. Connie LaPlante, Vicky French, Linda Phillips and Jan Schowinsky were second at 7-under, and Lucy Cook, Paula Brunton and Deb Hennessey were third at 6-under.

For 9 Holers, Diane Decenso, Tami Swope and Marie Bolin won on a scorecard playoff at 4-under. Becky Weir, Deedee Dodson, Toby Rogovin and Joan Minning were second at 4-under, and third with 2-under was Connie McWherter, Linda Graham and Cindy Linn.

Minning was also closest to the pin on No. 12 (5-feet-5).

Fuller's Fairways League results

Jay Smith fired 34 for low gross while Roy Cox & Dana Norris had 30 for low net in the GEYER FAMILY INSURANCE Wednesday League.
