Locals attack Turkish-Russian patrols in Syria

Russia and Turkish forces haven't been getting the warmest of welcomes in northern Syria.

As the two unlikely allies continue with their joint patrols this is how residents are greeting them.

This is the northeastern town of Maabadah as people hurled stones and shouted at the military patrol as it passed through.

And its not the first time - this was just a few days ago in Kobani - a Syrian border town with Turkey.

Turkish and Russian troops are carrying out joint patrols in northern Syria, under a deal that has forced a Kurdish militia away from Turkey's border.

According to Russian media, Russia has also deployed military helicopters in order to help protect Russia military police working on the ground.

Nearly a month ago, Turkey and Syrian rebel allies launched a cross-border incursion against Kurdish YPG fighters, seizing control of 75 miles of land along the frontier.

On the ground not everyone is happy with the agreement.
