The Locklin Fire has burned an estimated 100-150 acres in Old Bisbee and forced evacuations in some areas, fire officials said Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

The Locklin Fire in Old Bisbee has burned an estimated 112 acres, and a red flag warning for critical fire weather remained in place for the area.

The fire is at 100% containment as of Saturday evening, according to InciWeb.

Two engines from the Bureau of Land Management in Arizona mopped-up operations Saturday, fully suppressing the fire.

Residents near Old Bisbee who were evacuated Tuesday due to the Locklin Fire were allowed to return home that afternoon.

People in those areas were asked to remain in their properties as much as possible and watch for fire crews when traveling.

According to InciWeb, 20 personnel were working on the fire as of Saturday, down from the more than 100 who were assisting just last week.

The fire was reported Monday about 11 p.m., according to InciWeb. The fire's cause was under investigation, but it was believed to be human-caused.

By 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Cochise County lifted an evacuation order for residents in the areas of Locklin Avenue, Wood Canyon and Juniper Flats.

Residents there were returned to "set" status — the middle stage of the state's three-step evacuation framework — and told they could return home. Those in the area of Star Avenue are also in "set" status and should be ready for evacuations if ordered.
