Loescher awarded Louise Freeland Scholarship

Olivia Loescher was selected as the recipient of a $1,200 Louise Freeland Scholarship from Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives (OEC), according to a release from Fireland Electric Cooperative.

A senior at New London High School, she is the daughter of Stephanie Schmidt and Scott Loescher.

Stephanie Loescher serves as Firelands Electric Cooperative’s consumer service and AMI coordinator. OEC is the statewide association for the 25 electric cooperatives, including Firelands Electric, which provide power in 77 of Ohio’s 88 counties.

Named in honor of a long-time employee of OEC, the Louise Freeland Scholarships are awarded to children ofcooperative employees and trustees throughout the state. Up to four $3,000 scholarships and four $1,200 scholarships are awarded annually.

Applicants were judged on their academic record, personal achievement, leadership and school and communityactivities. Twenty finalists were chosen to participate in an interview and tested on their cooperativeknowledge.
