Logan Airport named one of the worst US airports in new study

Logan Airport is one of the most difficult locations to fly the friendly skies, according to a new study.

Experts from the Family Destinations Guide used data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics to rank the worst air travel hubs in the country. Included in the data is the percentage of flights delayed and flights canceled in 2022.

The study ranks Logan as the 9th worst airport in the country. Boston’s travel hub had 23.33 percent of flights delayed and 3.94 percent of flights canceled last year.

Orlando Internation Airport took the crown as the nation’s worst airport with over a quarter, 28%, delayed. Newark International Airport in New Jersey took home silver and Fort Lauderdale- Hollywood International Airport in Florida brought back bronze in the race to the bottom.

Utah’s Salt Lake City International Airport was ranked as the best airport in the country with only 14% of flights delayed in 2022.

“Flight delays can be stressful, especially if you travel with young children. Delays and cancellations happen for different reasons. It could be bad weather, airport equipment malfunction, or government shutdowns,” said a spokesperson from Family Destinations Guide. “However, there are ways to avoid flight delays. Flights earlier in the day tend to have fewer delays, so try and book an early flight when possible. You could also try and book flights in the middle of the week, on a Tuesday or Wednesday, rather than a weekend, as fewer people travel on these days.
