Logan Yoder, Brady and Alexander Roden lead Garaway boys basketball to sectional final rout

Garway advanced to a district semifinal and picked up win No. 20 with a dominant second half Friday night at home. The Pirates were 69-36 winners over Coshocton.

They outscored Coshocton 40-16 over the final two quarters to break open this Division III sectional final. Garaway led just 11-8 after one quarter and 29-20 at the half before pulling away.

Logan Yoder’s 15 points led the way for the Pirates. Brady Roden added 14 points and Alexander Roden scored 13. Drew Mullet contributed nine points. Garaway (20-4) plays Harrison Central in a district final Tuesday night at Claymont.

MALVERN 77, RIDGEWOOD 53  Rodney Smith scored 23 points and Mitch Minor hit six 3-pointers and totaled 21 points as the No. 1 seed Hornets rolled at home in this Division III sectional final. J'Allen Barrino added 16 points for Malvern (23-1), which has advanced to the districts for 17 straight seasons. The Hornets shot 56.6% from the floor and forced 22 turnovers. Jackson Cabot hit six 3s for all 18 of his points for No. 13 Ridgewood. Malvern faces No. 4 seed West Muskingum in a district semifinal on Tuesday at Indian Valley.

WEST MUSKINGUM 54, SANDY VALLEY 49  The No. 5 seed Cardinals (16-8) lost at No. 4 West Muskingum in a Division III sectional final. No other details were available.

STRASBURG 68, ZANESVILLE ROSECRANS 52 The fifth-seeded Tigers went on the road and knocked off fourth-seeded Rosecrans in Division IV sectional final. Strasburg shot 54.5% from the floor, including hitting 11 of 23 3-pointers. The Bishops hit 10s, but needed 36 attempts to get there. The Tigers built a 33-25 lead by hitting 8-of-17 3-pointers before getting to the basket more in the second half when they shot 12-of-19 from the field. Jake Ryan led the way for the Tigers, scoring 23 points, including 14 in the first half when he made four 3s. Gage Moore added 18 points and made four 3s. Matthew Stevens contributed 15 points and Cole Hutchison scored nine for Strasburg (18-6). Moore grabbed seven rebounds and Ryan had six, as Strasburg owned a 32-27 advantage on the glass, including 11-7 on the offensive boards. Grady Labishak’s 25 points and five assists and Weston Hartman’s 21 points led Rosecrans (19-4). Xander Daniels grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for the Bishops. Strasburg advances to play top-seed Hannibal River in a district semifinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Union Local.
