Logansport planning power outages for some blocks Thursday morning

Sep. 29—Logansport Municipal Utilities is planning power outages starting about 8 a.m. Thursday for Logansport homes east of Western Avenue between West Wabash Avenue to Lockwood Street.

The LMU electric department will be making system improvements, including replacing damaged poles. The project should be completed by early afternoon, according to an announcement from LMU.

Homes that will experience sporadic outages will be in the following areas:

—West Wabash Avenue from Western Avenue to Lockwood Street.

—Lockwood from West Wabash to Helm Street.

—The west side of Seybold Street from Wabash to Melbourne Street.

For safety and convenience during the outages, LMU advises residents to prepare by doing the following:

—Make plans for using any medical equipment that requires electricity.

—Charge cell phones.

—Unplug computers, televisions and sensitive electronics.

—Notify your home security company.

—Plan to manually operate garage doors and electric gates.

—Minimize opening refrigerator and freezer doors during outages.

—Turn off all heat-producing appliances (stoves, toaster ovens, irons, hair curlers, etc.)

The system improvements will increase reliability of electrical service and decrease emergency power outages, LMU stated.

Crews will work quickly and safely to restore power as soon as possible.
